Topic: v3.1: Promo Editions in db, Inventory Privacy, The Meadery Interview

Hello,

As most of you know, our card database has been based 100% on the information provided by Gatherer (the official Wizards db). But gatherer is not complete, sadly, and many promo printings were missing, along with other sets such as holiday specials.

http://deckbox.org/system/images/forum/3_1_ann/bunny.png

Happily though, the Easter Bunny has now added these missing sets to our database, so users can properly tag their cards. The old promo flag is still here, but we will phase it out in a future release as it is not necessary anymore.

Since the edition selection dropdowns were getting hard to manage with hundreds of editions, we've added a small live filter box to all of them, to make it quicker to jump to the desired edition.

Nicer Feedbacks for traders and sellers

Other UI improvements include the new trade/seller scores you can see now listed near the usernames on the website and forum. (This is by the way clickable! Click them to open a nice dialog with all the feedback texts.)

Inventory Privacy

There has been a long standing request from some users that do not wish their full inventory listed publicly.

Now you can access the Privacy options on your Inventory page, under Tools. You can either set a password on it, or set it completely private (visible only to your user).

Other

In other media news, there has been an article on The Meadery about our 3.0 release smile [1]. (If you did not know about The Meadery, check it out, it has very cool Mtg articles).

Re: v3.1: Promo Editions in db, Inventory Privacy, The Meadery Interview

I put my account on vacation since hearing about the trouble with switching over from TCGPlayer's prices, but this is exciting stuff! It looks like the card prices that I flagged have all been fixed and the prices are getting more stable. I'm pretty busy with other things currently, but will try to explore the recent changes in the coming weeks.

Re: v3.1: Promo Editions in db, Inventory Privacy, The Meadery Interview

great work, thank you.

Re: v3.1: Promo Editions in db, Inventory Privacy, The Meadery Interview

I'm SO happy about the promo edition! It's not a big deal, but there is a promo version of Marrow-Gnawer that was given out in some magazine (IIRC). It had a different set symbol. I didn't see it in your data base. I hope y'all added the common promos that come in the 3Packs at major retailers too! Thanks again!

Re: v3.1: Promo Editions in db, Inventory Privacy, The Meadery Interview

Dammit sebi now I have to go through and update my entire inventory!

(Kidding, this is an awesome addition and I'm glad to see it).

Re: v3.1: Promo Editions in db, Inventory Privacy, The Meadery Interview

From the trade window, people can still select cards that are NOT listed in tradelists (only in inventory). So, I'm still getting trade offers for cards that I do not wish to trade. Perhaps for the users who set their inventories to private, those cards should not be selectable for trade.

Another option that would be cool is if I could easily toggle "trade from my inventory" for my own trades, but that doing so wouldn't automatically do the same for my trade partner. Sometimes I'm willing to add something from my inventory to even out a trade, but I'd like my partner to not be able to do so.

Very true. Will fix.

Re: v3.1: Promo Editions in db, Inventory Privacy, The Meadery Interview

This update is awesome, but would like to point out some items now have multiple entries such as Mana Crypt. "Media Inserts" and "Promo Set for Gatherer" are the same release.  It was a promo you could get by mailing a coupon from the back of one of the Harper Prism books, so Media Inserts is a more accurate set name.  Probably everything in the set "Promo set for Gatherer" is redundant.

Re: v3.1: Promo Editions in db, Inventory Privacy, The Meadery Interview

Oooh, the missing editions are in. That's amazing. I can have proper wishlist now. Thanks.

/edit
I have found possible inconsistency in attributes/pricing data for those special editions - eg Damnation from MPRP have price only for "normal" while the card is "foil". For consistency sake it should relate to the physical state of the card or mispricing might occur like in case of Dungrove Elder from MGDC. That one has pricing for both foil and normal version, while only foil version exist. This may also cause trade opportunities to return incorrect results.

/edit2
Also there is a small bug with Unhinged Alternate Foils - when editing inventory/tradelist/wishlist the list of available editions have UHAA listed twice, once just the symbol without any text and once the symbol with editions name.

Re: v3.1: Promo Editions in db, Inventory Privacy, The Meadery Interview

There are multiple versions of the Arena island.  Arena island 2002 is missing.

edit, actually more are probably missing.  Here's a nice search:

Re: v3.1: Promo Editions in db, Inventory Privacy, The Meadery Interview

Is this the place to report price discrepancies, then? Because the WPN promo Path to Exile is displaying $0.00 when marked as foil, but gives a real price when marked as non-foil (the card itself is only foil).

That's the same problem I have reported. Sometimes its the other way around - the card is foiled and the correct price is assigned to foil-marked inventory item while non-foil item has price of 0. This is very inconsistent.

Re: v3.1: Promo Editions in db, Inventory Privacy, The Meadery Interview

Price issues should go in this thread:

Re: v3.1: Promo Editions in db, Inventory Privacy, The Meadery Interview

Suture Priest is shown as having a Media Insert printing, but I'm very sure it does not.

Edit:
As does Phyrexian Rager.
