Notes

Modern Aggro Control, it is indeed a fun style of play to mess around with. The one change I would make to this deck is swapping in Tarmogoyf in place of Leatherback Baloth (If money were no object). Maybe if they ever reprint the Goyf. On the other hand this deck doesn't run enchantments or sorceries so by itself it won't typically fuel Goyf beyond a 3/4 or 4/5 at most.

Birds of Paradise and Merfolk looter provide mana and card acceleration. Don't worry too much about discarding cards as you can get them back with Memory's Journey (Which also provides some mill protection). Winged Coatl acts as a flying chump block with flash and deathtouch and Tree of Redemption is your wall and life gain method. The beat down comes in the form of Leatherback Baloth and Primordial Hydra.

Mask of Avacyn makes life gain possible via Tree of Redemption and can serve to pump/protect your fatties. Mana Leak and Dissipate are the counters and don't forget you can draw them with Merfolk and then recycle them with Memory. Increasing Savagery provides the ectra oomph for creatures if needed, and it that doesn't work then side in Blightsteel Colossus in games 2 and 3.

Nihil Spellbomb sits in your graveyard instead of Grafdigger's Cage as you want access to your own graveyard. Echoing Truth is good at removing tokens or just bouncing stuff in general. Naturalize kills Grafdigger and other pesky things and Trickbind is there to stop any annoying abilities. Kavu Predator completes the sideboard giving you a weapon against life gain decks.
