I was thinking about this one too. You've got 4x Berserk, and I'd run 4x Invigorate, 4x Might of Old Krosa, & 4x Rancor. Rancor is going to be reprinted in M13, so you can get them cheap in about a month.
No fiddling with R/G balance, no worrying about removal and bounce and first strike. If you do want to use red though, assault strobe would be amazing here.
They've reprinted berserk twice, as red, but it costs three instead of one: Fatal Frenzy & Rush of Blood (doesn't kill your creature at end of turn). Not quite the same.

Then, instead of ball lightning & hoping your opponent doesn't have first strike, bounce, or removal - run hexproof creatures: 4x Gladecover Scout, 4x Silhana Ledgewalker, 4x Slippery Bogle, or unblockable creatures plus some protection, like Skarrgan Pit-Skulk & Xantid Swarm.
