Modern Classic 7/14/19 5-4

Need to mulligan more aggerssively for relevant cards. Either need to race or interact

Wins:
Eldrazi Stompy (Raced them)
Spirits (Was able to bolt their threats)
Blue Moon (Chandra and Carnage Tyrant) Chalice is good
Bogles (Raced + Interaction) Chalice is good

Losses:
Affinity (No interaction + lost the race)
Infect (No interaction + lost the race) Chalice is good
WU Control (Would have been okay if I could deal with Snaps and Collonnades)
Full Metal Ponza (No interaction) Chalice is good I think


Deck perfornance has dropped. I'm seeing a lot of GDS, Tron, and Abzan Company. I think though I just need to get better at mulligans. A hand of ramp can't beat Company. I need to mulligan for interaction.

Modern night 8/22, 3-0-1

Match 1: Elves
Game 1: By turn 3 he had 2 llanowar elves, a lord, and nettle sentinel. I Breached in Titan to get 2 Valakuts and then aimed 4 triggers at each elf. He responded with Collected Company and whiffed.
Game 2: Turn 3 he had Ezury + other elves. I had to decide between Breaching a Titan or using Engineered Explosives on 3. I used EE to play around CoCo but next turn he played another Ezuri and won.
Game 3: Breached in Emrakul and he was left with only a lord. Eventually found a Titan.

Match 2: Grixis Shadow
Game 1: He always tapped out. he played a T3 Tasigur and I Breached in a Titan which beat him.
Game 2: He kept a 1 land hand and brought himself down to 11 life by T3 and played Tasigur. I Breached in Emrakul.

Match 3: Scapeshift
Game 1: He was faster than me and got to 7 lands to Scapeshift before I had a Breach or Titan. Lesson learned, stay above 18 life for an extra turn.
Game 2: I breached in Emrakul.
Game 3: He played Witchbane Orb. We both ramped but he never found Scapeshift. I played 2 Titans, which he used Beast Within on and Spitebellows to kill the token. He played 1 Titan and I Valakut burned it. Eventually I ramped to 15 lands and hardcasted Emrakul to win.

Match 4: Lantern Control
Game 1: He knew what he was doing but didn't understand my deck. I was relying on Emrakul to shuffle my library but he had enough Surgical Extractions to end that. He also had Leyline of Sanctity Long game.
Game 2: He had Welding Jar so I couldn't kill two Ensnaring Bridges with one Ancient Grudge. I played Titan to get 2 Valakuts for a total of 3. He was at 17 life. 2 mountains was enough to kill him with 2 minutes left in the round.
Game 3: We called this a tie.

Lessons learned:
Elves: Target the creatures with Valakut
Scapeshift: Stay above 18 life
