I finished the first version of the maindeck, maximizing interaction with the opponent by including either tax creatures or those reliant on ETB effects. Currently unsure about the following:
-1 Drop slot - is 3/3 split of Authority/Fountain correct? Or is it something else? Is going all-in with exile-based removal wrong - do we want Fatal Push as the 1-drop of choice to get rid of Siren Stormtamer, Llanowar Elves, and the like creatures (cutting Seal Away completely, or doing a 2/2 Seal Away/Anguished Unmaking split)? Worth noting that Revolt gets far more manageable with Eldrazi Displacer in play or with utility lands that can be cracked for value. (Field of Ruin, Ifnir Deadlands, Shefet Dunes)
-2 Drop slot - 4 Kitesails seems correct, but is 4x Selfless Spirit correct? The deck needs a solid 2-drop hatebear or value creature that will team up with 3-drops to chip in at opponent and act as incremental clock. Selfless has a decent clock for a 2-drop, can be sacrificed in response to a removal spell on a key Kitesail/TKS to blank it in case of a topdeck. However, lifegain might be more beneficial - Gifted Aetherborn lives through shock and can both hold offensive and be good on defensive. Yet another option is to not play 4 creatures and instead maindeck 4 Warping Wails - to exile creatures like Jadelight/Wildgrowth Walker in response to Explore triggers, to ramp to 4-drop on T3, to create an instant-speed chump blocker, or to counter fieldwipes or spells like Approach. Yet another option is to mix and match - run a 3/3 split of Selfless/Wail, cutting down on top-ends like Shalai and TKS.
-It is also worth noting if resilience is of concern and the 2-drop more often than not will end up functioning as a beater, we could run 4x Scrapheap Scrounger (providing even more synergy for SB Collective Brutality).
-3 Drop Slot - No issues, seems solid. The only consideration could be the inclusion of Start//Finish but only playtesting will show if extra grind cards are needed.
-4 Drop Slot - Seems solid for the most part but may be a bit too much top-end. With 4 Warping Wails, 4-drops become a non-issue (although mana-base is more strained - even if we run Shefet Dunes in place of some Plains and Ifnir Deadlands in place of some Swamps) in terms of casting on curve. However, both Shalai and TKS die to Lava Coil and Fatal Push. Shalai helps out against decks that plan to go long and win with a Banefire in the late game and notably survives Cast Down (which is far more likely to show up than Price of Fame). Other 4-drop main considerations would be Oketra the True fo the ability to create chump blockers and end the game singlehandedly while surviving removal, or Kalitas as growing lifelinker.
-5 Drop slot - If I will find out that the deck struggles to close out the game or chump blockers get in the way, the move will be to switch to 4x Reality Smasher as finisher of choice. If the deck needs an evasive resilient finisher (still dies to Lava Coil but can otherwise be embalmed/eternalized) that buys the deck a turn or two, I'll add 2x-3x Angel of Sanctions (which can also be pitched to Collective Brutality for later Embalm value).
-Lands - If more colorless sources are needed, we can try the following lands:
-Shefet Dunes - in place of some basic Plains
-Ifnir Deadlands - in place of some basic Swamps
-Detection Tower - to have maindeck out against Carnage Tyrant and Vine Mare
-Aether Hub - to generate colored mana when necessary, otherwise serving as a colorless source
-Field of Ruin - to serve as a colorless source, act as Azcanta land destruction, or to trigger Revolt (for Push) and/or 'fetch' for the missing color.
-Or if we need more lifelink, more B/W land sources and can afford to sometimes play taplands:
-Shambling Vent - late-game lifelinking threat that can push through the last few points of damage or gain us enough life to close out the game.
