Is there any way to provide negative feedback without canceling the trade?  Once it's cancelled, it drops off the list of trades that people would see, so I worry that negative feedback wouldn't be too helpful.

I do not believe so. You might want to drop a line in the thread linked earlier here because this is an excellent point.

Or just drop it in a blue box.  There's nobody to complain, then.  smile

Note that we're talking about delivery confirmation.

Good point on the fast / slow trading.

There is the possibility to add an Overall feedback rating, and also detailed ones like "Condition of cards" "Speed of delivery" "Packaging". Would that help?

A nice scale of 1-5 in these areas would be super.

You should not be able to leave negative or positive feedback for a canceled trade, especially if addresses were never exchanged.

I wouldn't mind seeing some sort of feedback system on bad traders, both here and on reddit.

I sent to, on February 14th:
http://deckbox.org/users/GreyCr0ss [Matthew Pike] (also GreyCr0ss on reddit)

A bunch of cards worth about $15 in exchange for a Thrun, but it appears that he never sent it.  He also isn't responding to emails or to our trading thread.  I'll likely give him negative feedback, but I don't see how that would even prevent him from creating a new account to scam someone again.  sad

You've got the patience of a saint for not dropping the hammer on him yet.

I'll do my Elesh Norn for an Angelic Destiny and Hero of Bladehold.

Thanks for looking!

My dream trade would be my Elesh Norn + Elspeth Tirel for your 3 Hero of Bladehold. I really need the Heros though so please include them in any trade offers.

I have a question in this vein; What is a bad trader? I had one guy string me along for 17 days, with only sparse communication like "sorry, I didn't have internet, let's do this" and tie up 2 really good/in-demand cards only to cancel it out of the blue. Does he deserve bad feedback? Neutral feedback?

Think of it in simple terms: was this a net positive or negative experience? It sounds to me like it was a negative experience. As a trader myself, I'd want to know if some guy was stringing people along for almost three weeks. That's an unacceptable trading window. I respect your patience with him!

The PayPal site says:

Note: Delivery Confirmation is FREE with the purchase of Signature Confirmation. Also, Delivery Confirmation can only be used on packages ("Parcels"), not on letters, or large envelopes ("flats").

Does a bubble mailer with cards in qualify as a Parcel?

As I found out today, it depends.

At my local post office, I've never had a problem. I mail out several dozen bubble mailers per week and never have an issue getting delivery confirmation for it. This afternoon I was a couple towns over and dropped in to ship out my trades from the weekend. The clerk there was adamant that delivery confirmation was not allowed on bubble mailers.

Just make a sticky at the top of this forum. There's no need for a subforum. This community isn't as large, unwieldy or asshole-ridden as MTGS and other sites with a trading section.

I do agree with the above posts, the eBay-style feedback system is simply awful. A canceled trade before exchanging of addresses or even agreeing on principle should not allow positive or negative feedback.

I always wince when I get cards just chucked into an envelope. I got one today but to be fair it only had two Doom Blades in it.

For reference, I always send my cards in a padded envelope. I use toploaders if it's a few cards. Otherwise, I sleeve each card in a deck sleeve (not the soft clear ones) and wrap it in strong cardboard before insertion into a padded envelope. The cost to ship this envelope with delivery confirmation is $2.80. That's not a lot of money.

I've got the Tirels. Thanks for checking, everyone!

With the enthusiasm here for it, I imagine he got at least twice as much on reddit. Smart move on his part.

I've got 2 Geist of Saint Traft and more to trade. Check my profile out and let's make a deal.
