I would also advise not to sell at this time unless you absolutely have too

MtG isn't going anywhere, this game is going to last a long time, and even if they stop printing cards tomorrow, there would still be people like me trying to complete their collections.  So the market for cards is going to be around a long time, and selling into fear is always a bad idea.

Given that its a legacy collection and therefore I assume has some serious value to it, I would personally caution against selling in the current climate.  There are a LOT of sellers right now due to COVID, and so it's a buyers market and you will not get top dollar.

If you don't have to sell, I would advise you to wait at least 1-2 years.

It would be amazing to have the ability to create binders (or other custom "locations") for cards

What I'm thinking is this

You could create a binder which is effectively similar to the deck functionality

A binder would have the following features
Ability to define a sort order (collector number, color, custom)
Ability to define what cards are in the binder (add an entire set to it, individual cards etc)
Ability to define what cards are in the binder and also what cards are missing (missing cards are added to your wishlist?)
A Percent Complete (based on how many cards are in the binder vs should be)  I've always wanted a percent complete added to the editions page, but some of my binders contain multiple editions (as an example my Mirrodin binder also contains all the tokens for Mirrodin).
The ability to define # of cards per page (Are you using all 9 slots, just the outer 6?  etc)  Maybe have a graphical control to select which slots are being used?)
Page numbering for the cards, based on sort order and page size.  If it's the 10th card for a binder using only 6 slots, it's on page 2 kinda thing.
A visual guide for each page with numbers and conditions below the image of the card (this would help to verify that I've constructed the page correctly when making new binders from a set of cracked boxes of cards)
A way to use the visual guide to enter condition (like a number for NM, NM, Good, LP) this would be incredibly helpful for grading, since normally I don't grade, so all my binder's are marked as NM when in reality they aren't so right now, when editing I have to subtract a NM card and then add an LP which can only be done on the individual card pages.

It's just a thought.  I'm sure you've gotten similar requests

Currently I'm using decks as binders, but it's kinda... hacky and doesn't have all the above features (sort order and page number would be amazing additions).

Still an amazing site which I continue to use to great effect... awesome work.

Would it be possible to have the download option in the inventory, wishlist, and tradelist also added to the card database?

This would be really useful for those of us who want to add inventory offline

If you have your inventory as CSV, you can import it easily enough.  My only suggestion is that you keep an eye on pricing as deckbox does not have access to TCG pricing, and so the prices here are average for sales on deckbox.

My issue is in part the fact that PayPal now charges to issue refunds.  The buyers can leave negative feedback on a canceled sale.  I have become hesitant to list anything over a dollar.  If the price spike is only 1-2$ then no big deal.  Even if it was 0.25$ to 2.50 I'd honor the sale.  But going from 4 to 20 and multiple copies I'm not interested in losing 40$. especially  when I could fire sale them for 30 on eBay in an hour

Just wish seller could check a confirmation process on sales.  I'd even be okay with buyers being able to leave neutral feedback on cancel/refunded orders.  Just not negative

I must admit it would be nice to have a confirmation process on sales before the buyer pays.  This would enforce my "profile policy" of not paying before I confirm condition and price, since I generally don't grade cards until I pull them, unless they are horribly deformed (in which case I normally destroy the card outright, regardless of value).

How do other sellers handle price spikes?
do you just sell the cards at the crazy low values if some 0 feedback user logs i, and  buys your pre-adjusted card for 10% of its current value?

Do any of you have suggestion how not to get a case of feel bads that you missed out?
example Bridge from Below has went from 3$ to 15-18$  Deckbox doesn't update its values very quickly and we haven't see the price change yet and it has been nearly 40 hours
any suggestion would be great

1) I believe I have a price-spike policy in my profile that specifically says I will refund any price spikes, period.
2) I also have a policy that you are NOT to pay me at all, until I pull the cards and confirm condition and price (this also helps to avoid price spikes)

Now... DeckBox cannot use TCG pricing automatically (TCG has specifically stated that they consider DeckBox to be a competitor and thus will not allow them access to the API)

I have given this lots of thought, and it would be relatively easy for DeckBox to implement some form of price spike protection.  The spikes are documented on MTGStocks, and it would be relatively easy to scan that data stream for the top 100 movers up and down.  We'd then need a way to suspend card sales (and maybe trading) for sellers for any cards they are selling that have spiked.  The seller would then be responsible for un-suspending the card.  This is all work that Sebi would need to do (love Sebi and this site) and he's just one person, so all site enhancements and data improvements have to be prioritised.

I have cancelled one price-spike buy on my account, and I actually paypal'd the buyer $10 to sooth his bruised ego.  I don't generally sell high $$$ value cards, because I am a 4x collector, so the majority of my high value cards are simply NOT for sale or trading.

Anyways, that's my 2 cents.

At some point, I will be implementing a system to spike-protect my account via some custom coding (there's value in knowing how to code) as I can access the TCG API as an individual and side-step the whole competitor BS.  It would be nice if the community had a neutral site that was a price site, which didn't sell cards, and instead sold access to the pricing data, but we don't have that (as far as I know).  If we did have that, then no one site would have a monopoly on pricing, and the neutral pricing site would simply be reporting on pricing from multiple sources and collating the data into one neutral spot.

Nope, sadly there are too many edge cases and ambiguities to be able to correctly guess what is missing. When using it you see the counts in your inventory and built decks still, so you have to manually adjust the counts in those ambiguous cases.

Ya, I thought so.  Unfortunately, decks don't actually assign specific cards but just a count.  So deckbox knows I have 11 of the card, and that I need 12, but doesn't know where the missing card needs to go.

The reason I ask is that I want to be able to use DeckBox not only to track my decks (which currently works pretty good except in the above use case) but also to track binders (which are a special type of deck).

This begs the question:  What does the "Shared card" feature actually provide?  How does this affect DeckBox functionality?

I did setup the following decks in my profile to test this scenario, using a card from Spark

https://deckbox.org/sets/2338910
https://deckbox.org/sets/2338915
https://deckbox.org/sets/2338916

Would it be possible to add a feature to the Inventory page to adjust the wishlist accordingly?  I now see my inventory page does indeed know that I have 11 but need 12.  If it had the ability to adjust the wishlist number to 1, for selected cards, that would be AMAZING and would be an easy fix for this issue and yet another way to populate your wishlist.

One question: Will this feature respect a card over multiple decks?

If I have 3 decks, wanting 4 of the same card, and I only have 11, when I use this feature will it add 1 copy of that card to my wish list for the deck the one card is missing from?

Example

Deck A needs 4 Arcbound Ravager and has 4 assigned to it.
Deck B needs 4 Arcbound Ravager and has 4 assigned to it.
Deck C needs 4 Arcbound Ravager, but only has 3 assigned to it.  If I use this feature on Deck C, will it add 1 Arcbound Ravager to my wishlist (assuming of course, I have my account set NOT to share cards across decks).

Thank you, this is a great addition to the site.  Now I create "binder" decks and use them to manage my binder inventory vs. wishlist more effectively.

Awesome!!!

Deckbox is obviously not a bad place to sell, assuming again you have identified and graded the cards appropriately.

I've personally found grading to be a challenge.  One way to solve this is to purchase cards from a "known" site that you trust.  Select a cheap card, and then purchase 1 of each grading.  That at least will give you a set "standard" for each grade that you can use as a guide.  There are however some tricks which I use.

One is the "arm" test.  Simply hold the card in decent light at arms length.  If you can see ANY dents, markings, bends, or especially white on the border (assuming it's a black border cards) then it's NOT NM.  That at least gives you a good guide for NM.

As a guide for PERFECT cards, just obviously open a pack fresh card, make sure it's PERFECT in every way, and then seal it up good and tight (I'd suggest if you are going to buy sample cards to also seal them in a hard case as well.  We've all open packs, we all know what pack fresh SHOULD look like.

As for selling, if you're a social person, facebook can be a great resource for the pricey cards.  I personally have found that I simply prefer to sell here, or buylist to CardKingdom for credit, OR (and I might get flamed for this) "buylist" to pucatrade.  I was really skeptical and still am of pucatrade, but since I have a VERY large want list of relatively cheap cards, I don't mind trading down and I do like being able to get good "prices" (better than CardKingdom) while still buylisting.

Obviously, selling in person is the way to guarantee you get the most money.  But still expect not to get 100%... I find face to face at best you'll get 90% TCG unless the buyer is very motivated.

Currently, both orders and trades are sorted by card name, with no option to sort in any other way

It would be highly useful to be able to also have the orders and trades sortable by set then name, or be able to select a default sorting for my account for these windows.

After exporting, deleting, and then re-importing, I found the following cards do not follow the same pattern of naming used for Knight of the Kitchen Sink, and were thus imported all under the same card version, because the multiple versions of the card all have the same name

The cards affected are

Amateur Auteur (4 versions)
Novellamental (4 versions)
Extremely Slow Zombie (4 versions)
Target Minotaur (4 versions)
Beast in Show (4 versions)
Secret Base (5 versions)

It would be helpful if we could get these cards following the same pattern (placing a (a)...(d) after the name) to avoid this problem and also help people when trading these cards to know that there are different versions

Ya, I know, these are the commons, but some of us do trade commons as well

PS: Love the site, keep up the awesom work Sebi et al

I would like to suggest the addition of a new filter for searching

"Cards involved in Trades" which would be able to be set to True or False

This would be especially handy to filter out cards involved in trades, and is likely very easy since we already see in the list of cards a green arrow for those involved in trades (so the data is there).

In my case, I could then easily filter out cards involved in trades when composing a list of cards I know I can sell elsewhere, avoiding the accidental sale of cards that are going to be traded away, but have not been removed from my tradelist because the trade has not been completed as yet.

Hi Everyone

I've just repriced all my cards (which are mostly common or uncommon NM condition, plus some foils) at the following price structure:

Foils:    75% of deckbox average, minimum $0.25
Normal:    50% of deckbox average, minimum $0.10

So please buy them before they are gone

Ok, so I found an interesting "bug"

I was net-decking a zero-casting cost deck, with the following deck list: https://deckbox.org/sets/2218893

This includes 4x Kobolds of Kher Keep from legends (see https://deckbox.org/mtg/Kobolds%20of%20 … nting=4569)

However, in the listing, the cards get listed as Tokens, which I thought, hey, that's weird.  Because of this, when the decklist is exported, it excludes the 4 tokens as well.

I couldn't figure out why, until I realized that this cards ALSO has a token from M25 with the same name (see https://deckbox.org/mtg/Kobolds%20of%20 … ting=38304)

The token should likely be split off into it's own "card" since it's not an alternate printing of Kobolds of Kher Keep, but is actually a token.

You also may need to first select to create another line for the card if you have both non-foil and foil versions of the same card

I also have created a "foil" deck which I put all my foils in, since I generally don't collect foils.

A nice filter to have when looking at someone else's tradelist would be a filter that filtered for cards that are on my wishlist (by name and by edition).

This would also be incredibly useful if I could also export other people's tradelists.

Just an FYI Sebi, the card numbers for the Magic 2010 Extras are incorrect

It looks like the tokens were alphabetised and that's definitely not how they are numbered

The correct order is
Avatar
Soldier
Zombie
Goblin
Beast
Insect
Wolf
Gargoyle

As I often export my trade list for purposes of using it to sell cards elsewhere, it would be very useful if I was either

A) Able to filter out cards involved in a trade via an additional filter (easy) or
B) Have an additional number that indicates how many copies of a card are involved in a trade (thus I could subtract this from the number I have available for trade, and that's the number I could sell to a buylist).  This number would need to be exportable.  A little harder maybe?

This would be very useful as I often have multiple trades ongoing, but still want to sell all my low end crap easily to buylists (and entering this into DeckBox I find to be highly useful as I can then slice and dice the data in excel to sell to the buylist optimally).

Going through 24+ pages of tradelist to manually exclude the cards involved in trades is time consuming, and very tedious, and is also error-prone.

First, thanks to any and all members who join this community

My main goal is to have this be THE place on deckbox for set collectors to come for information and trades.  Obviously, I should probably introduce myself first.

My name is Douglas, and I've been playing MtG and collecting since oh... Darksteel.  Ya, that does mean I missed out on a lot of goodies (onslaught block and anything newer) but that doesn't mean I can't try.

My collection is extensive but I only tend to focus on expansions and core sets.  Additional product like duel decks, master's sets, or other niche products I typically don't collect (and don't plan on collecting until a large majority of my binders are complete).

Currently, I have 100 binders (jesus thats a lot) plus a typically full 4 channel box for each 'block' plus a bookshelf full of loose cards waiting to be registered into deckbox, so my collection grows.

I do occasionally purchase other collections or lots off of eBay (because ya, this is gambling to some extent) and of course, I am a bit of a goblin in nature.

I personally prefer trading over selling, but my tradelist is currently very sparse.  I simply don't have excess valuable cards (yet) for trade.  But I'm quite happy to trade commons/uncommons for the same.

My expectations for this group is just to meet new people, trade, and hopefully help each other fulfill our wishlists.  The assumption is that as collectors, NM condition is desireable, and that if you have a card on your tradelist it's excess and that your wishlist expresses what you are currently missing.

Feel free to respond to this post with a short intro yourself, and post any questions you have (storage, organization, pricing etc all fair topics).
