Yyaay!! Thnks for backing me up on that. Lol cus all my friends who currently play use all the new stuff to play really fast, and win games in like  less than 10 mins. yikes playing slower with no repeated cards is more fun in my opinion, it allows for the complex buildup of the board smile

I am finding that the new cars are extremely overpowered. Also, the newer modern, / standard decks utilize multiples of the same few cards. This is unfortunate, because there is an apparent lack of any other strategy than simply playing fast to win. sad
After 1997 the forma changed were are maanyy less drawbacks that would normally force one to think more
Intiutivley. For example, niv mizzets effect is I deals damage every time it's controller draws... But that's a free ability and is garrenteed every turn. .... Ugggghhhhh soo cheap tongue
Lol, Idk what do u think??

Ohhh, yeah that's true. I also checked the newer rulings on Ali. Too bad tho, cus it almost seemed like it could work to get around lich. Lol. Platinum angel is.... Weird tho. Negitve life and all that. Lol
Ur welcome for the idea tho big_smile in your endevor to create said deck it could very well work.

Ps: anyone who commented in this group is welcome to join my group mtg anomalies or the other edh based one to discuss weird things like this. Basically their not like mtg playing cliques, or meant to be based on trade- just groups/ communities to converse about things. smile

Omg yeahh that's true yikes

Legacy is intnersting. Basically played with any card from any set, exept the long list banned. Lol first what colors is your deck going to be? Like strategy wise?
Dual lands and fetch lands are always good. The way I see it, the most important feature of mtg is not powerfull creatures, or mana ramping enchantments and spells- it is your life total. That number alone decides the fate of a win or loss regarless if you have a massive army, dual lands ect ect. All those things are meant to help keep you from dieing, and eliminate ur opponent in the process.
Either look for powerfull protection spells, or damage dealing cards if your playing in tournements. Cus honestly, people that are experienced in those games think their the best players ever because they take advantage of either new players, or use life gain and dealing damage stuff tongue
What are some decent stuff u had? Cus others may see and be more selective about trades that may benifet you. big_smile

To imsully2,
Yes, that infect combo thingy is way more difinitive. And i agree with the fact that lich and Ali together  are confusing/ convoluted, but I feel it makes it interesting conversation. I'd always play mtg casually with friends, but now I'm going to tournaments and such where weird rules like this need answers for, more experienced competitive participants.
I only called it a loophole, because of the uncertainty regarding ones life. I feel I gained much wisdom on this.:)

Lol true, honestly I'm not sure so I figured I'd ask others smile.  It was just really weird wording on Ali that gave me the idea smile
What I'm wondering tho, is maybe this invinceablity type thing can be achieved with lichs tomb.  All lichs tomb does is say I can't loos the game of I have zero or less life, but I do, loose X life I have to sacrifice X perminents. This one tho doesn't bring me down to zero tho, so maybe nnnoooww it could be done with Ali who keeps me at 1. Sadly I won't draw cards for life gain hmm lol interesting concept I think.
Or am I just not accomplishing anything with that ?

Gaeas cradle is possibly one the best cards in the game in my opinion. There are endless combos with mana ramping and seems like a ness entity for every green based deck big_smile

In my anti- creature deck there is a rediculous supreme board control combo with 3 cards ( others in deck aid obviously )

The tabernacle at pendrell vale +living plane + geas cradle

The tabernale: land: all creatures require and upkeep cost of 1, if not paid for each, the creature is destroyed.

Living plane: enchantment world: all lands are now 1/1 creatures, they still tap for mana but not the turn they come into play.

Gaes' cradle: land : tap to add G for each creature you controll.

               Aiding cards:
Pyramids
Crucible of worlds
(Mana ramping things) sol ring, grim monolith birds of paradise

Soooo basically all my lands are creatures so when geas cradle is tapped for mana, it pays for both the land creatures, itself and all others under my control. So I still have mana open. The idea is that opponents will tap all their creature lands to save them from dying, but their creatures will die. Or they could tap a land to pay for a creature, but the land creature will die instead.

Also the deck contains a simalar combo as many lands are artifact lands, so the tolarian academy would aid with artifact creature lands big_smile

Interesting. So basically only lich would work to change life totals? Im thinking tho since Ali prevents damage regardless, I wouldn't have to sacrifice perminents smile at least that what I hope happends, because if that's the case it's an anomaly in complicated rules that allows one to stay alive unless lich is destroyed.

Thnks smile

I feel black and red go well together with vampires smile

Lol I figured writing in all caps would attract attention, because I really need a clear answer on this. I may have found a weird loop hole with the two cards: Ali from Cairo, and lich, being played at the same time.
Basically, each changes your life totals differently.

Lich keeps your life total at zero. If you gain X life later on, draw X cards. If you are dealt X  damage, sacrifice X permanents.

Ali from Cairos' ability is that damage that reduce you to less than one, reduces you to one instead. All further damage is prevented.

What I am wondering, is if both are played at the same time, and I am dealt one point of damage for example, what would happen? If Ali prevents all damage that bring me to less than one life, then it would be prevented because I am already at 0...but the weird thing is, his effect brings me back to one life. Would that mean this type of life change would count as gaining life, therefore I  draw because of lichs effect?  If that's true, then what would my life total actualy become? I am assuming it could be two things.
The first idea, the total becomes one during the breif moment of attack/ damage so, I'd draw, and it would go back to zero. then again I may have to sacrifice one permenent if this changing to zero again counts as "damage".. Idk if that counts as life gain or loss tho, because my life total is being set.
Ok, lol. The second idea is that all damage is prevented (as I am at zero already), and the only thing that would happen is bypassing lichs' negetive effects, and only drawing cards when I gain life.
Omg srry that was so long. smile
But yeah I'm hoping I found some weird way around lichs rules and essentially stay alive as long as both Ali and lich are unharmed. big_smile I would be invincible until one or both is destroyed .
