so far ours have been just red. everything else seems pretty solid
Any issues with reds staining cards when you are doing frameless? I've run into it a couple of times.

She's still expierenting with different paints but so far only once has the paint chipped due to it being a bad batch but she uses (some kind of water color that is meant for cardboard. It also might have been sharpie she used on it too
I've been using citadel acrylic paints, haven't had too many issues with them other then some colors being really transparent and using a lot of layers to cover up the boards and such. Yellows and whites being the worst culprits.
What do you guys use for your alters?
She takes a regular token and paints over it once then adds a picture. that's pretty much it. It takes a few hours cuz it's all hand drawn but the results are good
I use paints too, I asked because it looked like mix media to me at first (paint and marker) and I thought that was really awesome. Do you use a specific brand of paint in particular? Any sealers to help prevent it from chipping when in use?
I do the same thing for my alternate art alters, its more personal that way I think.

Yeah I go a bit more extreme on the tokens for shits and giggles. Replacing the art with cartoon and anime references. I need to get my hands on more Soldier/Soldier Ally and Horror tokens so I can make my self full SnK sets out of them because this guy is lonely (and since I'm a nerd and I'd probably wind up reenacting an episode with them too lol)
I like that! lol ours are pretty meh here is example:

That's pretty cool actually, not meh in my book. The hair is especially detailed!

So far I've just been working with random commons and uncommons in my possession just to get the feel of mixing colors to match what's on the card. I feel that I've improved with my work and would like to show you guys my personal favorites!
Links because I can't upload more then one attatchment at a time, oldest to newest.
Lightning Bolt Playset
Hands of Binding
Spreading Seas
Sky Ruin Drake
Iona's Judgement
Rampant Growth
If you are interested in seeing more than my favorites you can find the rest of them over at my tumblr
I'm also highly interested in meeting other alter artists and perhaps getting some tips and tricks from those more experienced then I am!
I made a new Android app that scans MTG cards (you don't have to type the cards name, you use the camera), after you can export the list and import it in your deckbox.org account! I think this will help to catalog cards faster or keep the database up to date. You can get it from Google Play store or to see it without installing it, there is a demo video . Also I've made a new topic about the app in General Discussion :)
Definitly a useful app, unfortunately I use an iphone instead of an android, so all I can do is hope you plan on making an iPhone version in the future. I know I would use it.
Like the title says, how would you marked altered cards in the data base, I have a painted canceled I need to add and I'm looking into getting into card altering myself.
Thank you That settles it. He was right and I feel more comfortable with the possibility of trading them.
Is there a sure fire way of knowing which edition Urza's Mine/Tower/Power Plant are from? From what I've seen there is no difference between Chronicles and Antiquities(Of course that could just be because I'm pretty damn tired and I'm missing something.)
Boyfriend says they are probably Chronicles because there don't seem to be any Antiquities for sale up on TCGPlayer, but I want to know for sure in case I decided to trade off one of the two sets I have. I don't want someone to think they are getting something they aren't.
I just finished getting mine all uploaded Saturday night. Now all that's left is to sort them better. I'm not sure how I want to other then alphabetical and by card type.
I need to get more boxes that's for sure though, used to have everything in binders, until the damn rings broke free.
Got back from pre-release. I wound up choosing Gruul as it was first come first serve and everyone went Boros as I was expecting. Wound up pulling Borborygmos Enraged and Aurelia's Fury in my pack. Ran them in my deck for the tournament; Borborygmos showed up in my hand right off the bat in almost every game, was only able to play him once.
I may not have placed high, but I had a blast and plenty of really close games. Best game of the night was the one I won with only 3 lands at the end . Just finished added in my cards, so I haven't had a chance to actually input the deck but I will after a few matches with my friends.
Hope everyone else had as much fun as I did!
Edit: Here's the deckhttp://deckbox.org/sets/301726 do plan on making some changes once I can get my hands on more gatecrasher cards; namely I'm removing Borborygmos. I saw him almost every match and, usually right off the bat and was only able to play him once so he was actually hurting me more then helping; If he had Bloodrush he would be worth keeping around.
And because I forgot to mention it I wound up going Gruul because it was said to be the closest to old school magic, which made it easier for me to play as more of the mechanics and play style were familiar to me.
Looking for some suggestions for common and uncommon cards to use in a Red/Black aggro deck. The deck is going to be heavily altered, and I'm still unsure of myself with painting, so I'm looking for easily obtained and affordable cards for this while still having the deck functional for casual play even if it is no longer tournament legal. It's pretty much going to be a for the lulz deck due to possible reactions it may get. [[Long story short friend dared me to make an mlp altered red/black aggro deck and I took him up on it.]]
Also I haven't actually started constructing] the deck as I want to see what I can actually manage to pick up from the local shop first. But I want to go in with a list of cards to focus on so I can just go through everything quickly. Please not that between me and my boyfriend we've already got some of these cards in bulk, I'm just looking for some extras of them in case of the inevitable screw ups.

On my 3rd day of working on it just about done with my red cards, standing at 1300+ with 706 different cards (lands included). I'm dreading going through my blacks, its my second largest group of cards lol.
Are they already sorted and in some logical order? I'd definitely do that prior to entering, as it's easier to keep track of where you are when you must put them away and resume later.
If lucky, you have someone close who is willing to help. My wife read me card names and quantities on occasion, and that helped. She plays, too, so she enjoyed seeing some new (to her) cards as well. I already had them sorted by set, so she didn't need to know what all the symbols were. Heck, I still use a list for many of them.
Sadly they aren't I stopped sorting them in the middle of sorting them some years back, so I've been having to do that as well. I spent last night finishing up my whites, and sorting my reds (which I just finished entering today). I could have my boyfriend help but he tends to do more work or start playing games after he gets home from work.
I guess at least once I get this done I can start picking out the low cost cards to start practicing altering on, I haven't painted seriously in years. And I suppose picking out the victims for the cheap black/red aggro deck a friend dared me to turn into ponies for shits and giggles.

Thank you for the welcome!
Well I can't wait to eventually get my collection fully uploaded really want to know how many I actually have I never really kept track after I bought over 1000 from a friend for 20, also hoping that deckmaster's gets added to the lists as I know I have a few cards from that set even though I've currently only found a forest and some swamps.
Yeah I do this every time I buy new cards, last time I bought them I never finished though and everything was all out of sorts. Kind of why I'm doing it now I suppose. Found a few gems I wasn't aware of in the process though lol. The things you forget you have when you don't pay attention.
I'm currently only separating out by names and color (rares have already had this done), but I suppose after I get everything cataloged I'll be adding in type and rarity for the commons and uncommons as well.
Almost 800 cards into my collection, I'm half dreading finding out how many I've collected over the years be it from the ones my middle school boyfriend gave to start me off to the ones I've purchased last saturday. My first purchase in 4 years! Been playing since around '02/03 but since 06 haven't had anyone to play with til recently.
Just found this site last night, been working for several hours now and have barely made a dent in my collection. Got all my rares, lands, artifacts, and multicolored cards done, just finished the uncommons in my white cards and still have stacks as large as my hand to go through for all of the colors.
So yeah, I've been wondering, just how long did it take the rest of you to catalog your cards?
I would spend it on cards I am missing from my favorite expansion, Mirrodin (the one released in oct '03) I've got fond memories of the release day, actually participated in a release party and took 3rd in a teams tournament, that the fact I and enjoy artifacts. Should probably make an artifact deck someday.
I've got a few cards from the set that I can't properly include in my inventory as its not currently on the site.
