I have a friend that hasn't played much since the last time he played standard in zendikar/scars of mirrodin times, and he has grown an interest with magic since now that he's back from college there's a LGS to play at. So far I think he's interested in an izzet deck. I know it's rather vague, but I can't really say I know what playstyle he wants. Does anybody know of any decently performing decklists I would be able to work with?

It's actually been quite a while since Izzet really had something solid (back before rotation during the Delver days). You should look on TCGPlayer and there was some sort of an American control deck that placed well recently that uses Keranos, God of Storms to push things through... but at current, that's the best performing "Izzet" deck that I know of in Standard.

If I get a chance I'll dig to see if I can find the list, but it placed two people in the top 16 of either a GP or SCGOpen just a few weeks ago.

I'll take a look, but I don't really know what to look for considering I myself have not seen one the ran well in a while. I will see if RWB appeals to him, which it actually might, which may give way to a stronger deck. Keranos, God of Storms almost seems to be needed in any form of izzet-ish deck from how he runs. I would really like to see that list to help determine what to do.

Something like this:

Sadly it's more U/W control with a splash of red, but that's about the best Izzet has these days... at least to my knowledge...

Control is quite a powerful arctype right now, and I would steer him that way, but he is more driven towards the Izzet scheme, and he likes it so far, so all I can do is help him along it.

Now that looks more of what I was looking for! He found a list he likes, so this may be a back up list to work off of. I wouldn't mind building it...mostly because of the Turn//Burn kill! But I also think its a pretty solid.
