sea gate wreckage? seems pretty good

Yeah it's showing up in a lot of sideboards now

Etherium sculptor isn't needed, so those could go out for memnites.  also 4 steel overseer and 4 etched champion may be too many.  master of etherium is a pretty good option, and frogmite is still a decent possibility.  i would also suggest going up to 4 springleaf drums until you get mox opals and even then a 3-3 split might be best.

Four memnites is a must.  I also second ditching sculpters.  What's cheaper than free things?  Oh that's right, nothing.  Maybe four etched champion is fine, but  there's room to cut back on the overseers..

I just don't think you want to run too many 3 drops, since you want to be playing as many creatures as possible.  Despite that article Tuna posted, I think the Ravagers are very necessary.  I playtested Legacy affinity a lot on cockatrice and always wanted 4 Ravagers.

Yeah Ravagers really aren't as nerfed as she made out...There's a reason why it's still expensive despite the bannings

Why are you running swamps?  If anything, those should be islands, since you need blue mana for Thoughtcast.  Some Blinkmoth Nexus should probably be in the list as well.

Also, you should probably either go with the mono red plan or not run red.  Playing Tempered Steel in the same deck with the red cards is not the best idea.  If you need removal go with Dispatch.

It seems to me that a lot of the lists lately are dropping the white cards and going with Thoughtcast and Galvanic Blast as their colored spells.

From the way your list is right now, maybe cut 4 Tempered Steel, 2 Dispatch, 2 Frogmite.  Add 4 Ravager, 1 Steel Overseer, 3 Galvanic Blast.

Then change your basics to 4 Blinkmoth Nexus, 3 Inkmoth Nexus, 1 Island.  That's probably how I would build it anyway.

Ran a few tests on cockatrice and Plating was the most important card.  You might even consider running a couple copies of Steelshaper's Gift to find it if you stick with the Tempered Steel version.

if you are going the affinity route, you want it to mainly be red/white. You also want shrapnel blast.

    • Trevor (07-Jun-2013 00:59)

If you are going to go the affinity route, you want it to be mainly a lot of good cards you don't have unfortunately...

yeah mm will help a little, but this will take a long time to make

      • Trevor (07-Jun-2013 01:01)

AKA Ravagers times 4...Moxes times 4.  I disagree with you tuna.  Here's a solid decklist that is quite similar to Joey's http://www.mtgtop8.com/event?e=5051

i was looking at a few like this. Its also really similar to Joey's list: http://magic.tcgplayer.com/db/article.asp?ID=10837

there are a lot of affinity lists, I just wanted to keep what I had and make into a modern deck.  This would obviously be the end goal, I could make a much cheaper version fairly easily.  and according to that article tuna linked, ravager isn't necessarily a 4-of, since it's been nerfed so much in modern
