how well does this work with only 3 creatures benefiting from the graveyard?

I appreciate you asking! My hopes is that you're aware of the Noble format. Where it's a 60 card constructed psuedo-pauper EDH deck. But with Splinterfright as the Noble, you're guaranteed to get a dangerous trampling beater. And if you're packing a Sheltering Word in case they've got some sort of removal for your Splinterfright, you're hopefully gaining a significant amount of life as well.

And Artful dodge is key in the graveyard should you get the Boneyard Wurm or Wreath of Geists in your hand and want to swing big.

Lastly, the Evolution Charms are in there to either land ramp, or bring back your fatty after they kill it.

ah ok, I get it. Wouldn't it technically be dead on your first turn, since theres nothing in the graveyard?

It doesnt come out first turn. You can cast it at any time. So hopefully by third turn, you have used deranged assistant, sac'd an elk, or used a looter.
