I just found Fool's Demise.  Might be neat here.

good sideboard item against any black/red deck

Actually, I could sac Wanderwane to himself then re-champion, untap/draw, recast Demise, attack and repeat infinitely!? Nice find!

It is also good for random things that have enter the battlefield stuff. Something like Merfolk Wayfinder (which didn't make the cut) enchanted would come back and trigger twice, ysee? Also works on other people's stuff, if someone comes at you with beef - but you've no way to kill things outright. So. Grunt.

Yeah as long as blue is not one of the opponents colors, casting beef is out of the question hopefully

A single lanowar elves or the like would throw a curve at you.  No fightin', just sayin'.

Merfolk Wayfinder will help you dig for lands and it flies.  Merrow Commerce counts as a merfolk spell and lets you not worry about blocking or tapping stuff.  Sejiri Merfolk is awesome with plains out.  Stonybrook Schoolmaster would be awesome if you could find a way to tap it, combo'd with Merrow Commerce, and just keep making merfolk at the end of each turn.

After wanderwine punches, I get all the same perks of a new turn right? Untap, draw, combat obviously? Although having tokens on the ready would be convenient, im really banking on that seahunter to pull through. Thats why I only put 3 'wines in, to guarantee a full and controlled board for 'wine to trash repeatedly. Hah. I will have some of these decks made for fagic night to test

1 - When the Wanderwine comes into play you have to champion a merfolk, thus removing it while the Wanderwine is in play.  2 - Each time you want to take another turn you have to sac a merfolk.  3 - Seahunter isn't a merfolk.  4 - I look forward to our future match.

Hey broski, good news! Scared me on that first thought of "just tapping" lands. I guess the deal is, unless your land has an active ability, then yes or you cast an instant, then yes, because mana empties at the end of the turn, so I'd still get to use it.

    • Your Mother (18-Nov-2012 01:55)

Oh.  Because it isn't, tap all lands and take all the mana.  It is tap all the lands.  [then] take all the mana.

  • Your Mother (05-Nov-2012 17:34)

H'okay.  In response to drain power someone'd just tap all of their lands, so you get no mana.  Aside from something to prevent some sort of combat trick I don't see the point.  Sleep or a simple Counterspell would serve better.  You have a lot of stuff that makes things islands, but a simple pyroclasm would wreck your board.  Your big dude isn't going to start swinging until turn 7 at the best scenario, which totally sucks.  I like distortion strike a lot more, anyways.  Cast it, hit with the dude, take another turn it gets cast again, hit with the dude, take another turn and do whatever.  Also, if you are looking to continue to win once the dude starts hitting, you'd at least need four other merfolk to sac in order to keep taking turns (for four extra turns, plus the first, is 20 damage).  Why not something with merfolk tokens or splash white for some stonybrook dudes?

Thanks for the advice, Ill look into white. My thought was to control the board from turn 1, hence soo many island makers. Annoying but with 1 stonybrook and 1 seahunter, I could have some beef by turn 4 and swing on five. Too, masters good for pumping unblockable 1 drops if i dont see any of them and all your lands are still islands. Even if it gets raped, I liked the concept.
