Notes

Trying out 2x Loxodon Smiter for the aggro matchups
Still not 100% sold on Garruk Relentless: a lot of games he's a 4 mana removal spell that trades 1-for-1, but he's probably worth keeping around. Going to keep at it for a while.

Another 1x Bonfire in the 75 might be good, a lot of games it comes up a little too late to save me against Blitz and Rolling Temblor/Mizzium Mortars often feel too slow or too small.

Bonfire seems like it might fit the "heavier duty removal" you're looking for, especially with how much you ramp in this deck. Are you worried about reckoner?

Yes, Reckoner was one of the reasons I was kicking around Oblivion Ring instead of Searing Spear.

Bonfire might be a good choice but it doesn't help with Reckoner much, and X=5+ is still going to be hard to hit before I'm dead, if I need to hit something (Angel of Serenity, Desecration Demon, Thundermaw, etc.)

I'll probably try it as a 1-of instead of a Searing Spear to see how it does, then bring in 2x Oblivion Rings, too.
