Quick question: your trade partner has 20+ feedback, but lots of open trades. When do you get nervous that a potential scammer is setting up lots of trades?

I'd ask them to send first in that situation, just to cover your bases.

I usually set up between ten and twenty, just because most people don't respond, and a lot just cancel them. I usually only have one night to set them up for the week, so I just set up a bunch and follow through on the ones that actually reply.

Usual or not, I'm with BasedJeleren. Most people — for reasons that seriously escape me — look at the trade but never bother to respond. They just leave the trade and pretend it doesn't exist. At that point, if they're not going to say anything I'd rather they at least cancel it (which is still rude).

As such, putting up a bunch of trades (often with the same cards) is a good idea just to improve your own chances of getting a trade to happen. I don't see a problem with having many trade negotiations open, and I don't think you (Wordofcommander) should really worry about it either. The only time it should come under consideration is when you're first deciding whether or not to open a trade with the person. The reason why is, if the person is in many trades but hasn't responded to any of them, that person will likely ignore you (so what's the point of wasting your time trying to come up with a trade?).

Open accepted trades? Or open trades for discussion? There's a pretty big difference. Sometimes I open 12 trades for a single card and accept whoever gets back to me first, and then cancel the rest.

However, if you are really worried and you have high enough feedback, I'd have them send first. If they are near your own feedback level you probably can't do this, but I still have people with less than 25 trades send first unless I have traded with them before.

I look at trades without responding a lot because I usually check during classes or between classes with my phone and think about them, but don't have much time throughout the day to make a full response. That's my input on that, haha.
