Hello :-)

My name is Pawel and I develop an unofficial deckbox iPhone/iPad app.

Below is a screenshot of the app in the works:

This is my actual wishlist ;-) Inventory works, too.

I'll be sending the app for review a the end of the week so it should hit the App Store in about 2 weeks.

The first version will be very basic. You'll be able to access your inventory, wishlist and tradelist on the go in read only mode. That's a starting point. If you've got suggestions, write them down below.

Thanks and please say what you think :-)

Cheers!

// Pawel

There's been a slight delay with releasing the app. I'm working closely with Sebi to make the app really fast and easy on your data plan, so it's going to take me a few more days to have it optimized and released.

Stay tuned for more info.

None yet, sorry. It's quite possible in the future though, but I'd love to make an awesome app for the iPhone first and then port it to android devices.

And some info about the app:

The 1.0 is coming together quickly. I expect to send it to Apple for revew tomorrow evening my time (CET), so it should be available in a little more than a week. I'll let you know when that happens, of course.

If only I had the time to learn Android app programming. This would be so awesome :P

Actually I managed to go through some android code for one of my clients last week and I found it quite easy to grasp. The only thing that bothers me with android development is that one has to account for so many different devices with different specs but with an app of this kind it shouldn't be that hard.

P.S. I'm polishing the last bits of the iDeckbox app ;-) I'll take it for a "field test" tomorrow during weekly EDH events in my city. Things are looking great :-)

Yeah I'm sure it would be easy, but I just don't have enough time.

Great news, Ladies and Gentlemen!

iDeckbox has been sent to Apple for review. It should be available in about 7 business days (assuming no problems from Apple's end).

The first version is pretty basic: you'll gain offline acces to your inventory, wishlist and tradelist with average cards pricing data.

Almost all iDevices are supported: iPhone 3GS/4/4S/5, iPad 1/2/3 and iPod Touch 3/4/5.

iOS version required: 5.0

As for the price of the app: the 1.0 version will be completely FREE for anyone to download :-) And no, there will be no ads.

For the record: this is a "feel the market" version of the app. If iDeckbox gets traction, I'll be properly updating and maintaining it. If people find no interest in such an app, it won't get more love from me. So... tell your friends about the app, post info on social networks you use and help me spread the word any way you can and I promise you more updates. Also, I deliberately added the "Contact support" button, so I could listen to your suggestions ;-)

All in all stay tuned and you'll be using the app in no time :-)

P.S. Many thanks to Sebi, who's helped me make the app much faster (like 12x faster) and easier on your data plan!

I've got some bad news...

Apple has rejected iDeckbox based on it's... name. According to them the name is misleading and I have to change it, resubmit the app and wait another 7 business days for approval.

This really is a bummer.

So, before I resubmit, if anybody have ideas on how to name the app, I'm all ears...

Actually this is a great name, thanks :-) I'll try to talk sense to them and if I fail, I'll use some permutation of what you suggested.

I managed to convince them to let the app through, so you can find iDeckbox on the App Store.

I know close to nothing about software development on android and ZERO on Windows devices. This means I'd have to hire someone and fund the development from my own pocket (learning necessary skills is out of the question, unfortunately). At this time this won't happen, since iDeckbox is my side project and not a business of any kind and I would hate to charge for current version of the app, which is - let's be honest - very basic. I have a really big design doc for iDeckbox, full of ideas and suggestions, but for now I'm waiting for Sebi and the Team to implement some kind of API. Without it the app would brake too often and Users would be unhappy and I really don't want this to happen, since I value Users of my apps (both paid and free ones) greatly.

tl;dr: I'd like to gain access to an API, make iDeckbox a cool app and then, If I got funding of some kind, outsource versions for other platfroms.

I was actually thinking the same thing, since I'm a developer too. I'd love to be able to write my own front end if I had access to my data through an API. People could even write plugins for deckbox.org if he sets it up well, then everyone benefits.

I am unable to log into ideckbox. When I install it, it says I need to enter my login information on the settings page. When I go to the settings page, there is a spot for my user name, which I enter. There is no spot for password. The app thinks for a bit, then tells me there is a connection error. I can reach deckbox.org on the browser (and anywhere else) and all apps that require network access still work, so I don't think it's on my end. Any advice?

The reason for no password, unfortunately, is that the app is currently a read-only app. It's handy for quickly looking up to see if you own a particular card, but that's about it right now. You can't update your library or anything.

As far as connection goes, maybe you had a temporary issue with your iPhone's internet connection. I just tried it and it worked fine for me.

No issue with the internet connection, as I said, I could do anything else on the phone. The network was fine. I was unable to connect to deckbox the day before yesterday, yesterday, and this morning, while everything else worked fine. I just tried again, on a whim, and it connected. I'm thinking there was a problem either out in cyberspace somewhere, or with deckbox. Either way, it's working now.

I kinda figured that was why there was no password, but also wanted to make sure that there wasn't supposed to be one.

I appreciate the reply!

The only thing that's missing on this app it's the decklist! It would be considerable more useful then it already is!

I'll be asking for passwords when the site stops being read only. For now we wait for an API.

sebi, please give us an API for decks, so I can make a utility to export decks to octgn format. I prefer building decks in deckbox since it shows me what I own and need, then I create it manually in octgn to do some testing with my friend over the internet.

My username is 'Leinad_S', but iDeckbox will only accept 'leinad_s' , i suspect the user reporting not being able to login earlier might have had the same issue.
