I'll do 4 for 36; lowest ebay prices are around 10

fair enough, I'll still pass on $36. I'll just ebay them as a set for $49, someone will buy it.

I'd sell for $44 here if someone wants it then.

That's just an ebay seller looking to cash in at any price to make happy sales & boost their ratings. Still $36 is kind of insulting when looking at 2 main pricing sites where basically 4x $12 + free ship is best price:

http://store.tcgplayer.com/magic/Product/Show?CardName=abrupt+decay
http://www.cardshark.com/Magic-the-Gathering/Return-to-Ravnica/Abrupt-Decay/Card-information/34158

Sorry, no interest here at $44 (very fair price IMHO) either as I got my own among others to put up for sale when I finish inventorying all the Ravnica boosters I cracked this week.

The idea is that selling != trading.
When we use tcgplayer med, we are trading cards. When selling cards; cash is worth more than trade therefore we refer to ebay for deals. The idea is that if we're paying cash, why not buy the cheapest available?

When I'm buying, I usually offer the TCG low. It works for me.
