She gives everyone indestructible...although I could get that from my planeswalker.

Its quite a nice perk from her, but she doesn't really fit in with the rest too well. Are you referring to Elspeth?

Seems interesting, but may I ask why Avacyn, Angel of Hope is in there? She doesn't seem to fit in with the rest, let alone her casting cost is steep for even mono white, let alone multi-colored.

Never really seen it used, but I could see using Phyrexian Negator to remove permanents? Also, I could see Solitary Confinement being beneficial as to stopping your draw and evening helping you empty your hand. Another way you could destroy permanents is to use Oblivion Stone.

You mean adding more creatures that affect the rest of the creatures at the expense of elves who don't ? because that's the way it should work....

Well not exactly, I mean from what I could see they had benefits, but with all of the one-of's you are less likely to be able to get it, where as if you have multiple sets of the cards that help out the most, you will usually get the best turn-out. But that is not always the complete truth since flooding of a particular card can be devastating, of course theres where you slim down, and can usually be figured out through testing numbers.

Our assumption is that this is for casual play?

Roaring Primadox is neat and all, but having attempted to use it to some success not that long ago, the fact the unsummon trigger is a MUST and not MAY, ends up putting you on the short end of the stick.  If they keep your board empty outside of the Primadox, you end up just unsummoning it every turn (and subsequently playing it over and over).

Sorry, I should have added it, but using Roaring Primadox I don't think I could make much of a power house of a deck with it.

Personally I see that trigger as an upside if anything considering he can turn himself off if needed, but with the current build he doesn't hit much of a deadspot unless most of my creatures are killed off. And anyhow, I can't find anything that does a better job. If anything I have more of mana issues thanks to there being mostly 3 drops.

Out of curiosity, what did you use it for?

I like the Sylvan Caryatid idea, but only had one going into this build and I lent it to one of my sons. I just got a second one from the Easter Bunny, though, so I will be making a change.

So far, two Nykthos have worked for me, but I'm open to a third. Even with only two in the deck, I've managed to play and replace a couple of times.

The deck took me to second place this weekend. I came in behind one of my sons, who borrowed a white-weenie-enchantments deck I ran the week before. I definitely will tweak this one before Friday. Overall, it played very well.

From the sound of it where you are your deck seems quite effective. I haven't seen a build like yours where I am because everyone's copying top tier decks at my Local game shop, myself included to a degree, but from what I see, I could see it doing pretty well.

Father and son taking over the tournaments wink

Is there a particular way the deck is suppose to run, or is it just a medley of Elves?

Also, I see there are a lot of one of's and not many do a great deal of anything for the rest alone, so I would suggest maybe slimming down the list a bit to a more refined list of them.

I myself have an elf deck, though mine is completely different and runs in a different format.

Heres a deck I just threw together to mess around with Roaring Primadox
Not sure how well it would work considering I haven't played with it yet. All suggestions are welcome!

The problem is that is has scry and the "Serum" seems pretty Mirrodin specific. We just had a block with scry so they're not going to do it again anytime soon and we already had a Return to Mirrodon-esque block. Seems very likely that it will be printed in some satellite set.

If anything, I think our best bet is that it will be released in Modern Masters 2. Id love for it to be in a new block sometime soon, but with all the scry it is quite likely we will not see it soon if they do choose to release it that way. They could always make another card like it, and then we may have a powered down version to work with, and on a rare chance, maybe even a stronger version of it.

Looks alright, though you may want some more pump spells, and one in particular that may be of use could be Mutagenic Growth, along with maybe main boarding Groundswell. And with those pump spells a nice addition would be Livewire Lash to get even more value from your pumps wink If you want some more value for a single creature attacking, then you may want some Cathedral of War.

I really like the addition of Resto Angel here. Flickering an Avalanche Riders or a Shriekmaw looks nuts.

I will admit that adding Restoration Angel was not something I thought of till I saw a build that Travis Woo had made, and it seems like a nice fit for the value you mentioned. Blowing up an extra land or creature along with getting an instant speed 3/4 flying body, kind of surprised I haven't seen it more with this.

They didn't reprint a whole lot for this block as they could of, and possibly should have? I agree it needs a reprint, and it would have fit with the rest of the cards if it were to have been released in this set or BotG, but I guess it just wasn't what they had in mind.

I don't see any reprints being printed aside from multiplayer-oriented cards really seeing as it is more of a card set meant to be more casual like EDH. If anything I think we may see it reprinted in an upcoming set, excluding the core sets.

So I've been working at it quite a bit trying to find a version I like, and its pretty tough, so I kind of have a bit of everything! I haven't had much of a chance to play it against decks so I don't really know how well it runs. Any constructive criticism is welcome!

Heres my list:

Oh well yeah, he's the best god of the set by a country mile... I just don't know that he'll have the impact everyone is hoping he will...

I'm personally happy to have Keranos to pair with Mogis in Grixis control.

He probably won't because look at the new Bob, everyone wanted him to be Bob, but instead all the hype died after about a week.

No, please NO! Glad I won't be apart of those shananigans....or should I cause them...

Deicide just ruined the party.  Athreos works well in W/B aggro with Cartel Aristocrat, Xathrid Necromancer, and a bunch of one and two-drops.

Attack with Soldier of the Pantheon and Aristocrat.  Sack Soldier, get a zombie, pay three?  Cool... cast Soldier again.

He'll be good, but I don't know that he'll be the single chase card... then again, Brimaz has underperformed expectations too... meh

Decide I'm having a love hate relationship, but really it doesn't mess with my decks too much. And with those two drops(atleast for standard) there's a way of getting them back still even if the 3 life is paid, and that life is played by the opponent unless you are referring to another in hand.

From what I've seen so far, he's the best card of the set, but this is my own opinion. I just see him getting more play then say Kruphix or Pharika, though I can still see her getting play time in. And dare I even bring up that damned Iroas....

Looks to be a decent build, though I think you'd be better off mana-wise with Sylvan Caryatid rather than Zhur-Taa Druid considering it can produce any color rather than just green, its hexproof, and much easier to cast with the one colorless rather than a red. Another addition I suuggest is 4 Nykthos, Shrine to Nyx, though it may seem too much, because playing against it I personally wouldn't play less than that, and it can produce stupid amounts of mana(such as tapping one for devotion, playing another and tapping for devotion again!).

Looks about like a friend of mine's vampire deck, and that thing puts up a fight! Seems pretty good, though I am not great with mono-black vampires opinionation considering I was more of a red-black vampires player. tongue

Here are some cards I would like to get. Other cards on my wishlist not mentioned are not as high of a priority compared to these, but I may consider them with these cool Feel free to shoot me a trade if you are interested in trading!

Wants:
Sacred Foundry x1
Godless Shine x1
Overgrown Tomb x4
Copperline Gorge x3
Blackcleave Cliffs x3

In my opinion It's going to be the chase rare of the set.

So far from what has been released I would have to agree, one of my favorite minor gods that they have made. It has made me reconsider my colors for my next standard deck.

Thassa and Athreos are definitely #1 and #2 respectively.

Thassa I personally value a bit more for the sense that it helps with draws and makes things unblockable, including herself. And plus Thassa is easier to get to 5. But there are things Athreos can do, like keeping your creatures after they die, and with some red I can see some nasty possibilities!
