I was going back through my inventory and was reorganizing my cards into 9 pocket sleeves from boxes which brought up this whole thing.

I did double check the ones that were showing up and all cards that were showing up were all identified by edition properly.   Thanks for the response Sebi!  Good to see some added features coming!

I will say I use the system in both ways.  Sometimes I want to check my quantity of a card for building decks regardless of edition, however when I am using it to manage my actual inventory, I really only want to see what cards I have for a given card for a specific edition.

1 user, 2 different uses.

I have loved deckbox as a inventory management software to manage my 5,000+ cards.  Managing that many cards can be tedious and deckbox has made that so much easier.  I look forward to the changes you are working on Sebi!  Keep up the awesome work!

I was filtering my inventory with the following criteria:

Color: Black
Edition: Magic 2012

I was getting back  cards that I only owned in M11.  I did not own any of those cards in M12.  I had other M11 cards show up in the list but that was because I owned a copy of them in M12.

I was just thinking....Magiccards.info is great for magic users, but deckbox isn't just for Magic.  Integrating with other game specific sites for proxies would probably be less efficient than creating the process from scratch within deckbox, that way it could be used for all currently supported games and future added games.

I have been using proxies for a long time now, and currently I usually open up a 2nd window on http://magiccards.info.  Anything listed in my deck that i don't have or don't already have on order, I use the proxy feature on magiccards.info.

Having this same feature on deckbox would make it easier for users, but why not just have a single link (or button) that adds all the missing cards in a specific deck to a proxy printout page on deckbox?

Looking at magiccards.info, it appears that adding cards to the proxy page is just a simple URL parameter, so integrating with magiccards.info wouldn't be too difficult to have a link that just adds cards from deckbox to magiccards.info. Additionally, ooks like it stores the proxy info via a cookie named "proxy" with all the cards you currently have added, but is set to expire on session.

There are a dozen ways to do it, sometimes its as easy as a piece of paper and a pen, or like you said, copy and pasting an image to a word doc/pdf and then printing out.  I usually just go to a site, grab the images I want, print and slip into a sleeve with a land or common.

I was merely making a feature suggestion that others might find useful.

deckbox already has all the images, and already provides a "spoiler" view of your deck, from a development standpoint creating an alternative view that is already "printable" isn't too difficult and would make the process a heck of alot easier for those that use proxies.

I am a huge fan of deck design and love to playtest new deck designs I have added to my profile.  I usually will go out and buy the cheap cards, but when I design a deck with expensive cards I like to test with proxies before I dump loads of cash on a deck(been burned too many times on expensive cards that i eventually removed).  Usually will just go out to magiccards.info and start adding cards to my proxy print queue and away I go but its tedious.

Would be really nice if we could get a printable page of proxies based on our decks.  It would be nice to have it setup like a View (similar to the current "Spoiler" view of a deck) but the Proxy view would only list cards in the deck that are not currently in my inventory.  That way i can add cards that I have bought or are being shipped and can print the remaining ones.

On an easier note: Would love to have the default comment box to be slightly taller, in FF its only about 3 lines tall and can be hard to use, i know there are other ways to change that (i use chrome), but a slightly taller comment box as the default would be much easier to use.

I prefer the pipe delimited option also, we use this at my work all the time.  Even the most computer illiterate can be told how to convert an excel doc into a pipe delimited text file to paste into a web form, it usually works very well for those with little computer savvy.

As for the Edition field if you are, I would put it at the end of the record as the last item, that way it can be optional.  Some people might find "1||Fireball" a little strange looking or might accidentally send 1|Fireball and you will have to evaluate each to see if its a matching Edition.  Obviously you can check for this on the code side, but having it on the end just feels "cleaner"

1|Fireball
3|Fireball|Alpha
20|Fireball|Magic 2010
5|Counterspell
6|Llanowar Elves

And I agree that using abbreviations will just complicate things, stick with the full english name of the set.  The nice thing is, people for the most part will be willing to conform to whatever restrictions you impose as long as it makes importing easier for them.

Well, I looked at my other decks and their basic lands show SoM versions and they still list the deck type so that isn't it.

Was going through my decks and I noticed one of my decks isn't showing the Type...(Vintage, Extended, Standard, etc).  My guess is one of my cards is causing the type to not get displayed.

As with any online community there will always be trolls and people who think they can say whatever they want behind the veil of anonymity online.

It gets a little complicated when dealing with ratings, because someone could game the system if the rating system isn't developed properly.  Plus you then have to weigh in the knowledge of the voter, someone new to the game could rate a 10/10 when they know very little about all the possible cards or about the deck itself.

I am thinking more of a digg style rating system or Facebook "like" style to help combat trolls.  the other way to help combat trolls is to also "thumb down" comments, again this increases complexity of a rating/comment portion but could also entice more community oriented feedback.

A simple "like" button would at least give the community a metric of what is popular and what is not.  I know there is FB integration already, but I don't ever plan to muddy my FB profile with stuff outside FB.

Any plans on adding a "vote/star" feature or "thumbs up" feature to the decks section.  Would be nice to be able to see how the community feels about decks currently in the system and then to be able to view those decks by rank or other type sort.

Love the commenting for decks.

So I have been trying to add a new blank deck to my profile and every time i click the Add New Deck button in the profile menu, it lets me type in a name, but when i hit enter it takes me to the Deck List page and the new deck was not created in my profile.

I have tried this on Chrome and IE8 and get the same issue.

I am not sure if this is my browser (currently using Chrome), but occasionally when i start typing a card and there is only 1 card matched, i can hit tab or enter and it will fill in the autocompleted card name, but sometimes it will re-match what was autocompleted and when i hit enter to submit the form, the last few characters of the matched card are added and then it says it won't match.

For example type "Clergy of the holy" then hit enter to autocomplete, then hit enter to add the card...but in this case it autocompletes the "Nimbus" a second time.  Again this only happens occasionally but seems to happen more when i type quickly and hit enter very quickly.

Loving the site!!!

You already have the Autocomplete search working for the "Add Card" form, but was curious if you could add an autoselected drop down for the expansion. Obviously you couldn't select one if a card is in multiple expansions, but its semi-tedious to add a card, then go edit it, then choose the only expansion from the drop down and save the edited card.  Would be nice to skip those extra clicks for cards that only exist in one expansion.

Additionally, it would be nice to select the expansion during the "add card" instead of adding it then going back and editing the cards you just added.

Thoughts?
