Hi All,

My lists change frequently but I keep them up to date.  Let's trade!

Wishlist:   http://deckbox.org/sets/342255
Tradelist:  http://deckbox.org/sets/342254

Yeah, we're having communication problems here.  let me repeat more clearly:

1.  I'm having trouble with Devour Flesh.
2.  I know pro-black doesn't stop Devour Flesh.
3.  Blue has counterspells, which DO stop devour flesh and many other things.
4.  Blue/counterspells would slow me down, which is why I definitely don't want Blue.

Also, have you heard of Bant Hexproof?  It uses blue and is awesome.  Don't know why that would hurt someone's head unless it is your opponent's deck... it wins a lot of games.  Anyways, that is not what I am doing here but I'd try it one day if I get access to GoST and VoR.

Regarding Midrange:
1.  Once again, this is Aggro, nothing Midrangey here.
2.  Blind Obedience slows down Haste creatures - Boros Blitz, Naya Blitz.  I have been beating those decks with speed.  Also if I don't have trample it makes them block and those decks don't like to block.  However swinging 7/5 doublestrike means they have to chump block or take 14.  Then they don't get battallion and I am full of glee.  Then I use (gasp) an enchantment to gain Trample.
3.  I don't use Extort.
4.  Lifelink is handy.  Hellrider and friends can hit for 14 on turn 4 pretty easily.  If I'm on the draw I might have to survive that.

Bonds of Faith: I will try with 1 or 2.  Removal is not my priority and (like you said) enchantments have the 2-for-1 flaw.

Nevermore:  THANK YOU!!!!!  This is exactly why I started this thread!  You told me about a card I never heard of that might solve my problem.  It has the same cost as O-ring and is pre-emptive.  I love it.  This will be in sideboard against control/american/even Jund or Rakdos.  I could name Devour Flesh, Supreme Verdict, Liliana, even Olivia Voldaren.  So cool.  Thank you thank you thank you.

Unflinching Courage: This card wins games.  I can see taking it out against control though because of 2-for-1 issue.

Gavony Township:  I don't love it.  So far I've only used this land ability once and it was just OK.  But, that mana would have been wasted otherwise.  I'm not getting color-screwed so I don't think it hurts anything.

Regarding Turn 6: You're generally right that I should be close to winning, but I'm not going to just quit if T6 hits and the game is still going.

Also, I agree again about Exp One. Burning-Tree is cool but my only thing it could chain into is Mayor of Avabruck so that's too conditional. If I took another color I think it would be Blue for counters (slow) and for spectral flight/Geist of St Traft... Now leaning toward bant hexproof which is not what I wanted....

Regarding the Loxodon Smiter, it's my least favorite creature in the deck b/c not human. However, 4/4 for 3 is hard to argue with. Also can't be countered.

It's definitely aggro. My most expensive card is a 4-drop whose effect buffs the 1/2/3 drops on turn 4. I'm not 100% sold on the pilgrims, but the idea would be T1 pilgrim, T2 Smiter, T3 Silverblade - soulbond, Rancor, swing for 12 with Trample. T4 Sublime Archangel gives +4/+4 to swing for 20.

A typical progression without the pilgrim I would play T1 Champion of Parish, T2 Knight of Glory buffs Champ and Champ swings 3 with Exalted. T3 Silverblade buffs him again to 3/3 plus Exalted double strike swings for 8 then T4 Angel = lethal. If they have blockers then I need Rancor/Selesnya Charn/Unflinching Courage for trample, general slowing by 1-2 turns for buffing.

Mayor and Nearheath Pilgrim are also awesome. Trample is best, but lifelink is close second.

The problem with examples like this is that they leave out the other player. I've been outracing other aggro pretty well, but control hurts me. IF I have Faith's Shield it works great against spot removal or regular damage. Keeping one W open at least until after combat isn't that bad. The things that really get me are the spells like Devour Flesh that make me sacrifice my own creatures. That's kind of what I was asking about.

I also was asking about what to take out for control.

LOL I just un-junked it!  The main reason I was hesitant to take out the black was that Vampire Nighthawks are like my security blanket.  I had some mana issues and wasn't quite as fast as I'd want.

Lingering Souls has the potential to be awesome with the Sublime Archangel but (barring ramp) they play on turn 3, which is when I want my Silverblade Paladin or else another 2-drop and a Rancor.  Then they flashback on turn 4 which is when I need my Archangel.  Then again if I get wiped on turn 4 that's a waste...  Then I'd wish for the little lingerers to flashback and/or Sorin and his little vamps.

I suppose I could run 4x Farseek and 1-2 Godless Shrine?  Not sure what I'd take out though - maybe Avacyn's Pilgrim for the Farseeks?

Experiment One could be really awesome!  He pumps Champion of the Parish and everyone else pumps him....

Boarding out Smiters and Armadillos sounds good - I'll try it.

Hi All,

I have this deck very close to where I want it, though there could be small tweaks that could make it better.  Today I went 3-1 with the only loss against a mono-black control (AKA KillKillKill) deck.  Mostly I could use some help with the sideboard strategy.  I pretty much know what I want to bring in, but usually not what to take out.....

Here's the deck

For Aggro I already do pretty well, but I find the Selesnya Charm's removal mode rarely hits b/c the creatures are too small.
-2 Thalia, Guardian of Thraben
+2 Nearheath Pilgrim
-3 Selesnya Charm
+3 Blind Obedience

Against Reanimator:
+2 Ground Seal
+2 Rest in Peace
-4 ???

Against Control and/or Planeswalkers:
+3 Oblivion Ring
-2 Unflinching Courage?
-1 ??

I had three more sideboard slots so I included the 4th Selesnya Charm and the 3rd & 4th Unflinching Courages.  However so far I never use them because I prefer to keep my creatures.  I'm thinking to get 2 more Faith's Shield because they are awesome for protecting me against removal.  Maybe I should also get one more O-Ring?  Maybe 2x Sheltering Word for instant-speed hexproof?

My worst enemies with this deck are Liliana of the Veil and Ral Zarek b/c they tear up my small dudes...

Thanks in advance for your advice!

I saw someone win with Door to Nothingness once.  He had a handful of keyrunes that helped him out with colors and one artifact that let him untap other artifacts...

Crypt Ghast makes each swamp give 2 Black mana instead of one... that would be a great addition for you because you have a lot of cards that are expensive mana-wise and you have a lot of basic swamps.  I would add him.

Also I saw you have two Pontiffs of Blight.  That guy is a great blocker and gives extort to EVERY guy you have.  Combo that with all the mana from Crypt Ghast and you will hurt the opponent bad.  The downside is he is also 6 mana, which is a lot.  The best two cards in that guild (Obzedat and Blood Baron) both cost 5....

you currently have 7 cards at 5+ mana, no 1-drop creatures, 12 total 2-drops and 14 3-drops.  I would try to smooth that out by replacing some 2 and 3 drops with 1 or 4 mana cards.  Especially since you'll probably be playing against Boros and Gruul decks that are very fast, you might not ever have time to play those high-cost cards if you have a handful of them and no cheap creatures or kills.  The cards that stand out to me as least efficient in there are Assassin's Strike, Treasury Thrull and Vizkopa Confessor.  If they're working for you then by all means keep them, but that was my experience.  Teysa is expensive but so awesome.......

Last, when you tweaked the cards you changed the mix of Black and White mana costs... you are 60.6% black and 39.4% white, so I would take out 1-2 Plains and add the same # of Swamps.  24 total lands is good for Orzhov midrange.

Wow, lots to think about. Naya sounds like a lot of fun.

I have some zombies on my wishlist - gravecrawler, geralf and diregraf captain. Maybe I should add diregraf ghoul?

On thing though - in the situation where I only had two knights, I probably would swing with both for 4, not just one exalted for 3... Depends what was on the table I guess.

Thanks a lot!  I actually got to play it last night and I like it but it needs those suggestions.  You are most definitely right about the Sublime Archangel (It's so dangerous to playtest in a shop that sells singles!).  I now have 4 of them, and took out the Blood Baron.  He's awesome but a little too slow and not quite right for this deck.

Also agree that the War Falcons are a little weak.  They're great for turn 2-3 to have a flyer with some exalted triggers, then weak the rest of the game.  I have traded for some Champions of the Parish for the 1-drop slot.

I took out Sheltering Word, but picked up another Ready // Willing.  I also had been trying to do too many Enchantments.  Last, the Oblivion Rings are too slow but good for PWs, so they go in the SB.  Orzhov is way better for me here.

I am keeping the Rancors in for now, especially with the Ready // Willing and one Armadillo Cloak, but I'm definitely considering dropping green.  Will play some more this weekend and see.

Thanks again for the suggestions and please anyone else who reads this - chime in!

Hi Again -

I lowered the mana curve and tightened this up in general.  I kept the green in because Rancor and Selesnya Charm.  There are still a few one-of cards in here - stuff I am testing this week and will either put in sideboard or make room for more.  Instead of straight WB I think I'd more likely go to WG.  (Maybe Loxodon Smiter?)

Let me know if you have any other suggestions.  Link!

The biggest question I have now is if I should switch this to Bant ?  I have 2 Geist of Saint Traft that would be good, and Spectral Flight, and Invisible Stalker all sound good.  Would I need two more Geists to make it great?

Hi All - Please check out this deck in progress:  Warzhov Junk

I'm shooting for a pretty violent fast deck but I know it is not pure Aggro... I kind of see it somewhere between slow Aggro and fast Midrange.  I have lots of Exalted triggers, Sublime Archangel as the main finisher, and Silverblade Paladin around to give it Double Strike. Also a nice Knights/Angels/Priests theme and War Falcon works all the time because of the soldiers and knights.

Right now I'm struggling with deck space; torn between Enchantments for buffing the main Exalted pounder of the moment and Instants to protect/kill/surprise, etc. I really don't want any less creatures - What to do??! I don't really consider the High Priest to be direct removal as much as a deterrent to the opponent's swing, with a fun punishment if they do.

The main reason for the green splash is Rancor, but the Golgari and Selesnya Charms are awesome too. Last is Sheltering Word, which will both save my buffed-up friend and give me some life too.

I would love some suggestions from more experienced players. I haven't playtested it in this form, because I'm waiting on cards in the mail, but I did run a deck much like this with only 1 sliverblade, 2 of each Knight, 2 falcons, 2 Judge's Familiars and a Doomed Traveler. I also had Obzedats as closers, and 2 Blood Barons.  It worked great at Game Day this weekend. The problem is when my new cards come I'm gonna run out of room..... what are your thoughts?

That Strength of Selesnya event deck is cheaper than you could build it card-by-card...  1 Godless Shrine, 1 Advent of the Wurm, and 2 Rancors pays for the whole thing.

Maybe all the event decks are like that when they come out; I don't know becuase this is the first one that's caught my attention since I started playing again.

Don't need Sunpetals anymore.  Still looking for Sublime Archangel and I added a few more.  Stuff I have:

4 Game Day Promo Trostani's Summoners
3 Hinterland Harbor
2 Jace, Memory Adept
3 Varolz
4 Drowned Catacombs
2 Vampire Nocturnus
1 Watery Grave
1 Niv-Mizzet
1 Primordial Hydra
1 foil Turn // Burn  (shiny!)

Hi!

I just updated my tradelist - take a look:   My Tradelist

I really mainly want those angels, but there's some other stuff on my Wishlist too and I'm newish so you may know about cards I don't even know I want yet!  Feel free to throw out some trade ideas.

Also - since you're here, why not look at the deck they're going in and tell me your thoughts?
Gabriel's Exalted Warzhov Junk

Thanks in advance

Good start - I would absolutely get that Nighthawk out of the sideboard.  Such an awesome card.

Wight of Precinct Six is a good card but not for this deck... really only works well if you are milling the opponent.

I would lose that and the Knights of Obligation.  Tithe Drinker is cheap (both $$ and mana), and has both lifelink and extort.

Does that deck not come with Orzhov Charm?  If not I would get some.

Last suggestion is Thrull Parasite.  1-drop for an extort guy is awesome.  I never use his weird second ability though.

Oh yeah, and the aura I like best on High Priest is Gift of Orzhova - works like a charm and can now block flyers.

I have something like it that I played for the first time today.  War Falcons actually worked great in the 1-drop slot...... I never thought there were that good, but this deck has plenty of knights and soldiers.

turn 1 war falcon -> turn 2 knight of infamy/glory and swing with flying 3/2.  not bad.  I finished with either Obzedat or Blood Baron of Vizkopa.  Here it is: http://deckbox.org/sets/391903

I like this way better than my previous straight Orzhov.  I need to get some of those Angels you're using.

I have two Reckoners for trade - check out my lists.  Thx.
