The argument for Nykthos is that it you can cast a huge Exsanguinate with the devotion. You also run potentially 4 Obliterators, 2 Nightveil Spectres and 2 Lifebane Zombies so the devotion might be easy to assemble. It also opens you up to additonal value from Liliana of the Veil should yo choose to get some. And finally, as a more expensive and reliable alternative to Nykthos you can go the Cabal Coffers and Urborg, Tomb of Yawgmoth route.

Have you considered 4 Phyrexian Obliterators and some number of Nykthos and Exsanguinate?

I was able to buy them from my LGS at $10 a piece during M14 Standard so I'd recommend trading/selling it now. I can't imagine it being more than $15 if it rotates out.

I ran a Kaalia deck for a couple of years but she gets hated out every game. Unless I could get a winter orb effect down immediately I tended to lose. So make sure you get Winter Orb, Static Orb, Tangle Wire and maybe Hokori Dust Drinker. Also have plenty of lands/ramp because Kaalia will die 5+ times a game.

My second recommendation is for you to grab a Tariel while she's cheap in addition to Kaalia so you can switch into a BWR control shell, swapping out some creatures for more ramp and removal, after you get hated out. Kaalia is still perfectly fine in those decks if you play mono demons/dragons/angels .
