Sometimes I come across cards in foreign languages that I cannot read. If I also do not know the card associated with the artwork, I need to search to find the card by doing a web search on the card number. Having the ability to search by card number would be really helpful when entering unfamiliar foreign cards, or in cases where the translated names are not literal word-for-word translations.

It would help not only English speaking/reading members who are entering foreign cards, but would also help members of other tongues quickly find cards based on the number, without needing to know the English words (or without having to filter by edition, color, type, and mana cost just to browse through the results).

This is a legitimate request, but we will have to change some things before we can implement it. There were some consistency issues with how gatherer stored the card number, and our database is incomplete. (some cards have it, others don't). We need to clean that up and try fetching all card numbers again first. I can't promise anything for this year, there's a big backlog :(. But it's noted!
