Topic: Updated Trader Information- BTR
Hi all,
First of all, I tried going through the normal avenues for trade adjudication but they have been entirely too passive so it is unethical for me to withhold this information about Tyler Sullivan username imsully2.
This posting is motivated by giving you the trader as much information as possible.
"I also do not have a problem with you saying what you did, nothing you said was a lie and is good information for the community to have access to, changing your note is unnecessary"- Tyler
The situation:
* I sent 11/29 (as I was a new traded, low feedback)
* He "sent" 12/3
* He received 12/06
* Disappeared from deck box 12/20 for about a month
- did no respond to direct email nor chat box
--"Hi I didn't have access to WiFi which is why I havn't responded" 1/23
* Still has not confirmed receiving trades from late November through December
* "I'm on the way to the post office right now to send out replacements" 1/23
* I asked if he sent out the cards (he never provided the DC) 1/31
-his reply "I have, they should be arriving very shortly"
* Still no cards 2/6
At least 1 trader I contacted claims to have sent the cards I believe with DC during early December, Tyler has not confirmed receiving
Another trader I contacted said he had a few problems with him, but there was a resolution. New trade with him, he will have to receive Tyler's cards before mailing.
As I was a new trader when I traded with him, his 100% feedback (with 144 completed trades) was misleading, if you look at his completed trades, there were several red flag including "lost mail", "troubles with the post office", "worked through several hiccups", "package lost in postage", and "cards originally got lost in the mail." Those are just from his latest 2 pages of trades.
***Update***
As I surmised Helios52 informed Tyler of this thread, after which Tyler contacted me. We had a productive talk.
I was going to check my mail today and if the cards were had not arrived I was going to submit a bad trader report, to protect others because my loss was accepted. This is why I decided to post here first, to ensure people with ongoing trades with him in the Rochester community knows what to potentially expect.
With regards to the trade above:
Possibly forgot that he had told me he was going to do DC (I thought DC was unnecessary, but I thought this was his way of proving he was a good trader so I didn't argue)
-"it's true that I didn't use DC#, that was my fault I didn't mark your envelope as needing it"
Demonstrates insight that the trade took long
"I understand, 2 months is completely unacceptable by any measure"
Background
* Disappeared from deck box 12/20 for about a month
- did no respond to direct email nor chat box
--"Hi I didn't have access to WiFi which is why I havn't responded" 1/23
It is true that internet access was an issue, however this is not an excuse to not communicate.
* Still has not confirmed receiving trades from late November through December
I learned that there were some extenuating circumstances about him mailing address, in which he had to switch dorms after winter break that lead to:
"the cards are floating around campus, as I have told them I am not saying that any of them didn't send cards nor am I saying that they didn't arrive, simply that I don't have them"
Demonstrates insight to how his trades can be perceived
"I know that I am a slow trader but if you ask people who have run into issues with me I almost always offer some sort of compensation for the delays they endure so I am sincere, and you are correct, I am trying to finish 2 decks then I am going to cease trading until my finances stabilize"
"I've also contacted all of the people I have active trades with, thank you for bringing this up, I can see 100% how from your angle it looked like I was trying to scam people and I'm sure others thought the same, I hope everyone comes out of it somewhat satisfied"
When I suggested that he might need to send first in order to regain his reputation:
"I've actually done that already, with one of the traders who my cards seem to take a really long time getting to I sent before he did, and I'll probably just no longer trade with people who have no feedback"
Outcome:
I suggested that he also make sure that the people he trades with know his situation and that his address can be difficult to get to, although that might be rectified by his change of address. Furthermore, he is going to inform people both via chat and profile post about his shaky post office.
***** Sending from my post office is not reliable and delays of up to and exceeding 2 months have insued during some trades, I will make sure that you get your cards, however I cannot promise that it will be in a timely fashon if you're in a rush a more consistent trader is a better option than myself *****
It was not my goal to embarrass or lambaste him, I was very patient in the beginning. I would have opened up a bad trading report but I first emailed Sebi who took a while to get back to me, then told me to wait longer. I emailed Sebi because Tyler had completed so many trades and had positive feedback so I gave him the benefit of the doubt. However, when I saw him come back, initiate trades without completing old trades (claiming to send me new cards with DC), it looked suspicious to me. My goal was to get as much information out so we can all enjoy the game and not have to worry about cards. It is a game first and foremost. Tyler seemed contrite and sincere in our conversation and was very classy.
Tyler has access to view this and I told him I'd do my best to change anything if he deems falsely represented.
