Topic: [Standard] R/U Counter-Burn

Greetings. I made this deck because I love control and my brother used to use a lot of Counter-Burn back in the RTR days and wreck me, so I tried it and loved straight away. Tried to put one in Standard. Looking for some feedback

Deck: https://deckbox.org/sets/875156

The deck tries to slowly kill your opponent with some burn while anoying him with counters and massive card draw. The best way to get a Chandra, Pyromaster to 7 loyality and getting a Stoke the flames out of her ultimate for 12 damage. I'm looking for some feedback on it.

Results:
+2x 2-1 (WIN) vs Abnzan Midrange (Siege Rhino is easier to deal with after sideboard, getting the Disdainful Stroke)
+1x 1-2 (LOSS) Temur Combo
+1x 2-1 (WIN) Temur Monsters
+2x 2-0 (WIN) Boros Aggro (budget)
+1x 0-2 (LOSS) Jeskai Burn

I'm thinking of splashing white with Dragons of Tarkir to get in the new Narset instead of Master the way.

Thanks in advance and sorry for my bad english,
WarriorPP

No Mindswpie??? Counter and burn all in a single card. It would fit perfectly I think.

Mistakes were made smile

Besides that, what's your opinion?

Re: [Standard] R/U Counter-Burn

Well I see what you want to be doing with Chandra as your finisher but I think you could use something else as a finisher. One lucky Hero's Downfall and there goes your biggest way of winning. Pearl Lake Ancient is the most obvious answer for this role. Or even if you want a dual use creature, you can add Stratus Dancer from the new set. A small flying beater and you can counter a spell. Though he is more fragile to Bile Blight and such.

Other then that it seems like a solid deck that will catch people by surprise. It seams to have with the record you posted. Most people will have a hard time sideboarding against you which is great.

As for your SB, what are the Magma Sprays for exactly and why run them over Wild Slash?

Re: [Standard] R/U Counter-Burn

Yes, I do use Chandra, Pyromaster as a primary finisher, but, according to personal expirience, if, they remove it, I still got enough burn to over run my opponent. Besides that, I don't like/have any Pearl Lake Ancient (Personal Preference), and another thing that makes harder to SB I'd the 0 creatures. I'be had some controll decks with blank hands due to that fact.

The new flying creature is something I am considering though.

The explanation for the Magma Spray is just I literally don't have any Wild Slash. When I get a playset I'l get ride of them. But the Magma Spray actually once saved me from a Phoenix big_smile

Thanks for the review and sorry for my bad English,

I've added in 2 Prognostic Sphinx for 2 Cancel and broke the no-monsters rule. I've had great results with it after testing. Considering adding more creatures in.
