Topic: Card Database updates, Card price status, Spam, Security

Hello guys, time for the beginning of november status report smile

Security

We now have an https enabled for signup, login and user profile editing, so your email and password will be much more secure! We'll think about maybe extending the https support for the other parts of the website as well at some point.

Card prices

Tcgplayer, our price provider have a new shiny API for a while now, and we updated our price fetching code. The upside is that cards which had no price before, or a price of 0, or a bit off, now should be working correctly and more accurately.

The second good thing is that now we have prices for each edition a card is in, so in the not so distant future you can expect improved accuracy for collection value estimates, prices in card details listings etc.

Card database updates

Cryptozoic have released the new World of Warcraft Tcg set Throne of the Tides. We're now up to date (even with images for the majority of them), so you can browse the set in all its splendor here: http://deckbox.org/games/wow/cards?f=7340.39.

Warhammer:Invasion users also got a new expansion: The Inevitable City. The listing is here: http://deckbox.org/games/whi/cards?f=4323. We haven't got card images for it yet, so if there are any kind souls amongst you that would like to provide card scans, the Warhammer community will be forever grateful to you. (Well... maybe not quite forever... tongue ).

Spam

I've left this topic last because it's the least pleasant smile. Some of you may have again received some spam emails send by another deckbox user. In this new release we have included some more methods of dealing with these people, so it will never happen again.

A nice evening to you all!

MtG Cards renamed

One rather important issue I have forgotten to tell you about. In the prices API refresh process, we have looked at the flip card naming problems, and other such small issues that we had from the beginning. As a result these are the card renamings we have done:

    Æthersnipe to Aethersnipe
Nighteyes the Desecrator to Nezumi Graverobber
Arm with Æther to Arm with Aether
    Æther Spellbomb to Aether Spellbomb
Big Furry Monster Right 's brother was imported: Big Furry Monster Left
Rune-Tail's Essence to Rune-Tail, Kitsune Ascendant
Erayo's Essence to Erayo, Soratami Ascendant
Kuon's Essence to Kuon, Ogre Ascendant
Sasaya's Essence to Sasaya, Orochi Ascendant
Homura's Essence to Homura, Human Ascendant

    Shidako, Broodmistress to Orochi Eggwatcher
Autumn-Tail, Kitsune Sage to Kitsune Mystic
Tok-Tok, Volcano Born to Akki Lavarunner
Goka the Unjust to Initiate of Blood
Dokai, Weaver of Life to Budoka Gardener
Tomoya the Revealer to Jushi Apprentice
Stabwhisker the Odious to Nezumi Shortfang
Kaiso, Memory of Loyalty to Faithful Squire
"Ach! Hans, Run!" to Ach! Hans, Run!

Performance

This last week I've done some admin stuff - upgrading of various packages, optimizing some things on deckbox and on the other websites running on the server, and such stuff. It had a considerable effect on the smoothness of how our server runs, CPU usage is way down. There's still some possible bandwidth issues to investigate but overall, website snappiness and performace should be up.
