Topic: Help Transitioning from 20 year old decks to more modern decks.

Hi, I played magic from the time the game started in Alpha/ Beta till around the time Alliances or Tempest came out.  Not sure for sure.  Anyway, I've got three decks from the old days and I've made a few changes and I'd like to do more, but my problem is that I just plain don't know the cards anymore.  I'm linking three of my decks that are 20+ years old and hoping someone can give me some guidance or tips or advice or anything to help me ease into the modern 2017 era.  Here they are:

https://deckbox.org/sets/1700300 Red/Green Kird Ape
https://deckbox.org/sets/1709125 White Weenie

Any info anyone can give me would be most appreciated.
Thanks,
A King

A lot has changed since then! It looks like a lot of your high cost creatures will be too high costing now. You'll be dead before you get enough mana to cast them unless you put them in a commander deck. It looks like your decks have a mix of value creatures with varying mana costs. This would be great in draft as you generally want to use all the mana you have available each turn. In constructed formats you need a more focused goal. That said, your Kird Ape deck is pretty similar to modern zoo: http://mtgtop8.com/event?e=15705&d=296107&f=MO

White Weenie is of course still a thing. Not Tier 1 but it can hold its own. Avacyn looks really odd in it though. Avacyn flips and maybe kills their stuff but definitely kills your stuff. Yuck!

Thank you for taking the time to give me some feedback.  Its the only ideas/feedback I've gotten since I joined this page.  Would you mind if I messaged you back with more specific questions?

I'm no expert by any means but would gladly answer any questions I know the answer to.
