activation email not working

My email adress lapse and I was able to recreate it with the same adress.  During the time the adress was not available I tried to login and it ask me to activate the email adress.  After the adress was recreated I try pushing the resend button but I do not receive an email.
I am still able to write on the forum  because for some reason it remembered me or the login worked for that part
