In case you haven't seen it, here is the visual spoiler from wizards: http://www.wizards.com/magic/tcg/article.aspx?x=mtg/tcg/riseoftheeldrazi/spoiler.

I personally don't like the new big monsters that take special tricks or huge amounts of mana to play, I think they are just going overboard with them. I used to like 2 mana elves with deathtouch :P... As for the level-up creatures... they seem to me they are just a lamer derivation from Figure of Destiny

Wow, I hadn't seen those!

I'm actually pretty psyched about the new themes, and curious on how the game's going to be changed. Details on all the mecahnics are in this article.

As you say, I'm not much of a fan of playing gigantic, very expensive creatures, and the mentioned defender theme seems boring (although I understand that they need to slow down the game for those Eldrazi to actually be considered...).

But level-up... that looks nice, and seems to be pretty powerful at first sight.

I like them! Timmmmyy!!!

Anyway, I am quite pleased -lore wise- with the last eldrazi king, as it turns out that it was Emeria ;) ... and he probably was imprisoned in the emeria sky ruin.. nice :)

What do you have to say now, emeria angel and iona, shield of emeria ? :P

and he's the pre card, so one more and then I can play my polymorph deck with this :D

Love level up, highly unaesthetic but very strategic as a mechanic... eldrazi are kind of meh... at least they seem more interesting as a tribe than allies. Rebound and totem armor also seem great, hope to see some good cards with these abilities (fingers crossed for a decently priced shroud + totem armor aura :P).

New comic is up too, if anyone's curious: http://wizards.com/magic/multiverse/article.aspx?x=mtgcom/feature2/83b

Well, there's not much to tell right now, but...
The kor and the merfolks have each one of them a triad of gods, and each one of them calls them by different names:

for Kor: Kamsa, the goddess of the wind, Mangeni, god of the sea, Talib, the god of the earth.
for Merfolks they are: Ula, god of the sea, Emeria, goddess of the sky and Cosi, the trickster god, for earth
these names also appear on some of the cards Cosi's Trickster or Iona, Shield of Emeria

Now that the names of the tree eldrazi kings have been revealed, it's quite obvious that the merfolks and the kor were actually worshipping the memories of some eldrazi monstrosities (out of fear, awe or misinterpretation.. who knows? :) ).
Names passed from generation to generation, slowly transformed so that:
- Kozilek, Butcher of Truth became Cosi
- Ulamog, the Infinite Gyre became Ula
- Emrakul, the Aeons Torn became Emeria

I wonder if Archon of Redemption really knows in whose name is raising that sword :P

Check out the killer flavor on Sarkhan!

I'm not sure what to say about him yet, but he's definitely very very interesting, and it looks like it begs me to build stuff around him. His tokens eat Elspeth's for breakfast :P

And he's going to be a bit controversial until someone proves he's good, so cheap for trading! Yay! And if he's proven to be not so good, he's lovely for casual anyay... So however he turns out, I like him! :P

Unless they cast Ulamog before your Sharkan and they destroy it :P

Anyways, being a green-white player, I don't really like a planeswalker that I cannot grow and then do its super duper spectaculous ultimate (I'm talking about Elspeth, Knight-Errant and Nissa Revane of course). I guess I'll just have to get used to not playing 2 mana dudes with deathtouch and finishing off my opponent by turn 5...

Gotta say, that Sarkhan lines right up into my Scion of the Ur-Dragon EDH. Five mana, win game. Shame he can't tick up without some serious help though. He coulda ticked up one in his first ability with no great change in balance, but whatever. I'll still need at least one.

The lovely artwork of the lady with a bloody vial has a name!

No constructed applications for this one I think, but it looks great, and it might see some EDH play :)

Gideon has come to Zendikar! The story (pretty nicely written BTW, I really enjoyed it) is here: http://www.wizards.com/magic/magazine/article.aspx?x=mtg/daily/stf/84&dcmp=ilc-mtgrss#68198.

Interesting planeswalker but... Assassinate on a white dude... :/ what's up with that?

well.. they did say: "Although he has a dark side, Gideon has come down firmly on the side of honour and justice"
but I do agree.. that is a bit awkward. It should have been exile instead of destroy maybe? :)

I like it. it's the 666 monster!
Anyway, I think it's a nice combo-finisher. just place two cruel ultimatums on the top of your deck and swing with this guy :P
I want one.

Yeah, combolicious indeed. Still... if you could actually arrange 2 Cruel ultimatum on the top of your deck, then you don't need this guy anymore ;) ... unleees you want to finish in style... massive extra points if you use him, I'll give you that

Indeed, its probably the strongest card shown yet, and the best way to respond to removal in green. Damn I'm gonna hate seing this card in response to day of judgment :P

Blue wishes for card advantage like this. Pretty strong, considering Harmonize was a Sorcery of the same cost and didn't gain you life.
