Topic: Vorel of the Hull Clade - EDH

So, I opened this up in the ONE pack I won at the pre-release, and I FELL IN LOVE!!!!  I have been really enjoying drafting Simic, so this was a perfect new commander to compliment the other two decks I have built (Endrek Sahr, and Grand Arbiter - lists are in my profile).

I liked the idea of evolv, and I wanted to take it to a crazy-Timmy level.

This is one thing the deck wants to do, if it wants to be stupid (theres a lot of stupid awesome to be had)

I want to have a Master Biomancer, he's sitting at let say, 6 Power for realisms sake... I also have Vorel of the Hull Clade out, and doubling season. Maybe I'll ramp into a craterhoof behemoth, or some other trample creature (it doesnt need to be big, but haste is nice...) and when he comes out, he gets 12 +1/+1 counters (6x2).  I use Vorel's ability to double his counters... This will add 24 counters on him.  A timely Thousand-Year Elixer trigger, along with a voltaic key, let me go really bonkers now.  I can use the Elixer to untap Vorel, re-activate Vorel, to double counters again.  Let's catch up on count.  Last we had 24 counters to 12, for a total of 36.  Then I re-activate Vorel, we will add 72 counters this time, to give us a total of 108.  One more time (using the key to untap the elixer to untap vorel), and I will add 216 counters, for a total of a fuck ton.

Ok, so that's a little stupid, but kinda fun.  Give//Take would let me draw my deck, maybe a lab-maniac?  A Gyre Sage with 300 +1/+1 counters on it is interesting...   In the end, I've played this deck just a couple days, and it is way too much fun.  It goes out in a blaze sometimes, and that's OK.  This is a have fun, but also carry a big stick type of deck.

Re: Vorel of the Hull Clade - EDH

That may be the most ridiculous deck I've seen that actually has a chance of winning. I can see several points where this could backfire, however those are also the points that makes this deck amazing. Most revolve around the sheer number of variable power creatures you have. But also given the sheer number of things that give you counters chances are this deck wont completely collapse very often. Even when it does fail horribly, you probably have your opponents worried. This is the kind of deck i love seeing show up on commander nights.

Honestly I think I'd have to put it together and test it out to find the holes in it. I think it's time to make a proxy deck. Due to the sheer number of proxies i need to make i may just do it full proxy.
