Topic: Standard Deck for FNM

Ok, so I haven't played really in about 10 years or so.  Just about a year ago I started buying cards again because some friends wanted to play Commander.  We played twice maybe since, but I kept buying cards and now want to get into FNM standard play at a local shop.  I think I've put together a descent deck but am very open to any suggestions or combos that are just not obvious to me from not playing for so long.

Naya is a decent deck.  You might take a look at this list. (http://sales.starcitygames.com//deckdat … ckID=57552)

Thune takes a little setup where naya prefers cards that can kind of hit the ground running so to speak. I thin you should put the life gain on the shelf for naya and go with a little more aggressive strategy.  Given that, chalice of life, path of bravery, angelic accord and the archangel of thune can all go.

You def need more nonbasic lands on color.  The single burning tree isn't getting you where you can cut that, and ghor-clan rampager is pretty darn good.  If you have them they should be an auto include in this kind of deck.

Re: Standard Deck for FNM

Thanks for the input, I'll take that into consideration.  I took out the Burning-Tree Emissary like you said, it didn't really seem to flow anyway with this deck.  As for the Ghor-Clan Rampager I have a couple on hand that I may throw in there.  I need to play test this and see what happens and what I need to improve on.  Once I actually play a FNM and see what kind of decks people are using around here I should have a better idea as to what will work better.  As for the Domri Rade in the Naya deck, I do have one as of now and can get more but to be honest I don't even know what the emblem thing on the abilities means lol neutral   So I need to figure that out, then maybe he would make since to add in.  I do have 1 Bonfire of the Damned on hand that I can put in there and I will acquire more.  That's an obvious inclusion here that I don't know how I missed yikes  I've also got to acquire a couple more Boros Reckoner's.  As I only have the one now and definitely want at least 2 and possibly a full playset.

Re: Standard Deck for FNM

The emblem, is just a that.  It's something that get's attached to "you" as the player and as long as you're in that game, you have that affect.  So far nothing removes emblems that I know of.

Although, to be honest... if you get to ultimate your domri, you're winning anyway, and you're just showing off. tongue

The real money for Domri in this deck is his +1 and his fight ability.  Boros Reckoner with his minus 2 can take out 2 creatures sometimes.

At current it is impossible to remove an opponent's emblem or for them to remove yours.  It technically is not even considered in the field of play and, as such, is not able to be targeted or anything.

As for Domri's ultimate, you're right that you're likely winning in most cases, but against a committed control build, you would be surprised how often you'll hit it.  Back when he first hit I managed to set his off twice in a single match (games 1 and 3) and it was easily the difference between winning and losing.
