Topic: What is a reasonable amount of time to wait for a response?

As the title says, what is a reasonable amount of time to wait for a response when trading with an individual? Most of the people I've traded with respond at least once a day and that is good enough for me. I currently have an open trade where the other person responded the day I started the trade, but hasn't responded since. That was 3 days ago and he has been online every day since the trade was opened. Is it reasonable for me to look elsewhere for those cards and cancel the trade? I just now noticed that the cards on his side of the trade are also tied up in a trade with someone else. To me that is a huge turn-off toward trading with this individual.

Thanks in advance for your thoughts.

Are his cards tied up in a confirmed trade or just a trade discussion?  If it's a discussion, he's likely just feeling out which trade will give him a better return on his cards.  I it's a confirmed trade, you have almost no chance of getting that trade (unless he has more of the same card unlisted).

It's just a discussion, but it just leaves a bad taste in my mouth.

Well, of course, you don't have to make any trades you don't want to make.  If you think he's just stringing you on or ignoring you, you may as well just drop the trade.  If he was actually watching it and cared, he'd respond.

Just my two cents.  Probably a rather unqualified opinion at that.

Re: What is a reasonable amount of time to wait for a response?

I agree with Nevpicasso, if he/she didn't commit to either offer it means he/she didn't find the best deal for cards he/she wants. If someone likes the trade and is online, he/she would respond. I usually do similar - wait for all offers going through and pick the best, if we are in the process of discussing things, I will let the other person know that I'm looking at other offers at the moment. But the window in which some people will say they are not entirely happy with the trade differs from trader to trader. It's a fair game.

Usually I don't feel very attached, 'bad-tasted' or irritated by offers that are not completed yet. I always diversify my chances to get the best offer (what seems the best in my eyes at the moment, to be precise). So don't worry, sooner or later you'll find people that want your cards, after all Magic is a trading card game smile

And you loose some, you win some. As long you have fun trading it's what matters. And if you don't like people not responding back to you within 1 day or so, make it sound in your profile and feel no sorry to hit the hell out of the CANCEL button smile

Happy trading!
