Topic: Chimeric Idol question

Okay, so my legacy deck runs 4 Chimeric Idol and I was testing it out one day and came to a question. If all of my lands are already tapped, can I still use Chimeric Idol's ability to turn it into a creature or does the effect not work since I have to tap all my untapped lands? I mean, I've payed the mana cost to trigger the ability, so I thought why not. Did I just answer my own question or do I sound like an idiot?

EDIT: Another related question that might sound stupid, if Mutavault on my side turns into a creature and I use Chimeric Idol's ability, does Mutavault still tap since it's still a land?

Re: Chimeric Idol question

Chimeric Idol's ability will work even if all of your lands are already tapped. The effect doesn't say that it requires any untapped lands to work. As for the Mutavault interaction your assumption is correct. Mutavault ability says "It's still a land," so Chimeric Idol's ability would tap it. Of course there are other ways to use it, but I've found the best way to use Chimeric Idol is as an attacker with protection from sorcery speed removal when all of my land is tapped anyway. Hope this helps!

Oh yes it helped very much. Thank you so much!
