Topic: Need help with my first RB Modern deck

Hello there. I've been working on my very first modern deck, I'm going RB (both because it's my favourite combo plus all my sweetest cards are of that colours) and I really could use with help, as I really have no experience with deck building.

Thanks wink

Re: Need help with my first RB Modern deck

Others may be more likely to offer some useful insights here, but I would suggest starting out with the Standard format when learning to brew your own lists before diving straight into modern.  Modern is a format full of REALLY established decks that are quite unforgiving for most new decks.  While many would argue the initial investment in modern will end up being cheaper than the cost of staying competitive in Standard, I would argue that standard is a far more approachable format for someone looking to learn the basics of deckbuilding and such.

I would also suggest reading up on the fundamentals of deckbuilding.  There are a number of good sources linked in the sticky at the top of the Decks and Deckbuilding subforum.

Re: Need help with my first RB Modern deck

Hey, thanks for your answer. About standard, I've played a handful of drafts since m15's launch, so I have a small idea of what cards to pick for a makeshift deck (with some success).

Plus, my goal isn't buying awesome cards and putting together an awesome tournament winning deck. My goal is to put my old and dear cards to some use (that's why I'm using one goblin guide and three slave of bolas for example). But after putting 60 cards together I don't know if the particular deck will work, or if there's some cards I should really remove and try to add some other cards (not as a "to buy" list, but a list of similar cards that do almost the same thing I could add)

Nevertheless I am following your advice and reading the stickies atm.
