Notes

The gameplan of this deck should look similar to anyone who played while Eye of Ugin was unbanned. You’re trying to abuse the raw power of Eldrazi Mimic backed up by Thought-Knot Seer and Reality Smasher to end games before they really get started. Even if your opponent has answers, you have Mutavaults and Blinkmoth Nexuses to chip in for the last few points of damage.

The biggest problem with this deck is that you only have access to Eldrazi Temple as a two-mana land. Simian Spirit Guide does a reasonable job of letting you cheat ahead to cast Chalice of the Void and other threats, but that’s not enough on its own. This deck solves that problem in two ways. First, the addition of Gemstone Caverns. This land being legendary could cause problems in protracted games, but that’s generally not going to happen with this deck. Instead, it lets you pull ahead in games where you’re on the draw, and give yourself the ability to play a Thought-Knot Seer as early as turn one.

Secondly, Nublaku has given themselves more opportunities to find hands that have explosive potential by adding Serum Powder. This is a card we see more of in Vintage and Legacy than in Modern, but it makes a lot of sense here. Your explosive draws are so much better than your fair ones that you’re certainly willing to have some dead draws into order to give yourself more chances to draw a hand that lets you play an unfair game.
