I have been very happy splahing for the blood baron. the scry temples are pretty good and have not hurt the mana base much at all as you can scry for the extra white to get that turn 4 verdict.

Negates stay in the board because you really don't want to be drawing them against a heavy creature deck. Agains't fast decks you want all your cards live, and against control, essence scatter still works for stopping an Aetherling. going E Scatter into dissolve is better than Dissolve into Dissolve.

Blood Baron is wicked sideboard tech against aggro (WWr/GW) or against mono black.

Last Breath makes it pretty easy to hit all the relavent creatures that gives your standard removal/answer package problems. Namely Soldier of the pantheon, and nightveil specter. Great against weenies and deals with a small mistcutter post board.
