What's up my Wizards! Long time Magic player looking to start trading instead of buying cards.
Good communication is important to me; the best way to work out a deal is to be responsive and forthcoming. Trades for expensive cards with the default "New Trade" title and nothing in the chat box are a big red flag to me.
To build my tradelist I scanned cards in bulk with the TCGPlayer app and defaulted the condition column to Null. Since card grading can be so subjective I always photograph/scan any cards involved in trades to show ownership/condition/edition before finalizing. Personally, I'm not a big stickler for condition; I'm trading for cards solely to play with them so as long as they look good in a sleeve I'm satisfied. (Beat up MP/HP cards I may not want or will value lower depending on age/scarcity/damage)
I'm focusing on de-proxying some of my playtest decks via trades so there isn't much I'm specifically looking for right now outside of my wishlist but I do like scanning tradelists for things I didn't know I wanted.
I generally use TCGPlayer Market prices for valuation, Deckbox.org's prices are pretty wonky (and ripe for manipulation) due to the comparatively much smaller and less frequently updated pool of numbers it averages from.
Trades around $25-30 or less generally get shipped in a sleeve in a toploader in an envelope with a couple strips of cardboard box for protection but that is negotiable. Trades above that always get bubble mailers and tracking.
