    proteus staff is a great addition for two reasons:

    1) kill enemy commander without putting in command zone

    2) mono-blue has almost no creature destruction (besides the two pongifys you already have)

      Proteus is a good idea.  I'd also really like it in an artifact-heavy build with a grafdigger's cage.  Pay 3 to tuck your commander and you don't even get another creature out of it.

        Proteus is awesome - maybe the only thing that could tango with Ruric Thar.

        grafdiggers + proteus would be cool, but it sucks drawing just grafdiggers. trinket mage would help with getting grafdiggers with a proteus staff, and trinket mage could also grab a sol ring, if you so desire (and have one)


        could also add seat of the synod so that trinket mage could just be a borderland ranger

          Grafdigger's is still nice just because out of 3 or 4 people someone's usually trying to cast from their graveyard/library.  I still wouldn't put it here but in an artifact deck I'm sure you could always discard/sack it for something else or just use it to count for numbers.

    As Greg instructed me after the last time he kicked the crap out of me "control is hard because you look weak".  You need some cheap blue deterrents to stay alive and Talrand behind.  Fog Bank, Guard Gomazoa, et al for starters.  Also, propoganda.  Coat of Arms is awesome and most people will not run tribal in commander.  Very awesome.  Might as well throw some other drakes in there, then, eh?  All the Spiketails may help to start, Darkslick replaces itself, Gilded is awesome for a lategamepull.  Silver Wyvern is a drake that will almost never die.  Cast Through Time, Reality Strobe, Spellweaver Volute all up the Talrand power.  Surrakar Spellbreaker and Prescient Chimera also gain from casty, even when Talrand ain't around.

      propaganda I'll definitely have to make room for.  Cast through time also sounds pretty cool.  I also like Surrakar, but I don't think I have enough ways to push him through on his own.  He'd be awesome in a control-heavy Thassa deck.
