yeah i saw someone on here selling 2 for 290$  I went to my store yesterday to see if they would buy them since they sell them at 280, maybe i could buy a bunch from ebay and sell them to them. They basically told me they wouldn't pay me 150$ each. basically creating a bit of a stand offish atmosphere. I found out later that day that I think they pay about 20$ for them.

I lost a lot of respect for the store and the people that run it. I understand how capitalism works, but they are taking advantage of their customers by creating a market that really isn't there

Huge swindle! You can get them on ebay for a smidge under 200. My local store was nice and sold them at retail to the regulars.

like 20$ retail?

Come on, someone has got to have a few of these for trade smile

Looking to see if anyone has any of these creakwood liege for trade. Anything i'm not using in my inventory is pretty much up for grabs.  Anyways offer me them up in a trade and tell me what you need.

Cheers

I just want to say that I am against having my date of birth posted on my MTG trading account. I don't think it adds anything of value to know when I was born. Also, I do not want to link my Facebook account. No one here needs access to my personal life. If you have traded with me, then you obviously know my name and address but i don't want strangers i don't know looking at my profile, no matter if it set to private. It makes no difference if i am tradig with an 8 year old or an 80 year old. If we can come to an agreement then we have a trade and if there is a bump in the road we can cancel it.

I don't want facebook profiles to be put on here aswell. I just said that I used that with a poster in private to establish a connection for a trade. I wouldn't put it on here.  I have no idea why someone would be opposed to putting their age other then being embarrassed by it though. Almost every single message board forum lets you put in your DOB, it's not mandatory but it's an option. Personally i believe people who don't want to admit their age are usually teens/children who want to seem older. Or older ladies who don't want you to know they are old...

Its not so much being forced as is something that someone who has less refs or is new should be prepared for. It doesnt always HAVE to apply but you shoudnt take it personally if asked and generally the people who have more successful trades, also have had equally unsuccessful ones so its a way of protecting themselves.

Its also gain trust and respect among other traders. Its more than just something to hold over peoples heads. It actual proof that you are trustworthy. Im not saying this as criticism but what weight does your word hold when you say your trustworthy as opposed to if I say the same? Im by no means trying berate or belittle you and you could very well be a trustworthy person. I merely saying there is actual proof and evidance to support my claim. Sure there is the risk you are taking by trading online and getting scammed but your less likely to get scammed by someone who has a good reputation than someone a with a few trades. This isnt just a unwritten rule on this site. You can to any other site (MOTL, MTGS, Youtube) and its pretty much the norm everyone accepts.

I dont think someones age really matters all that much. I know some pretty smart 16 year olds and have also dealt with some pretty dense adults so the door swings both ways.

I guess there are other ways of proving you are a trustworthy person other than this site. Facebook being one, where you can see a person is an established adult, family, kids etc...

In my case, a small trade wouldn't bother me, but someone reached out and wanted my 2 most expensive cards and I told him I wouldn't trade them out unless they sent first. So they sent it out first, and I sent it out afterwards. I guess there are always exceptions to the norm.

I'm not sure if you're being sarcastic.  I'll give you the benefit of the doubt and say you are.

Online trading is all about your rep.  People with higher reps have more to lose with pulling fraudulent trades, namely the ability to trade with that community.  It should be a given that people with nothing to lose (i.e. new members) have to prove themselves to be a contributing member of the community first.  The feedback system isn't perfect and can be gamed so there is no clear-cut solution to prevent any fraud.  The only thing available is deterrence due to the threat of losing access to trading with that community.

The discussion is at what point has a person sufficiently proven to be a contributing member of the community such that "seniority" is irrelevant in trading?

We can agree to disagree. I havn't been here long and without trudging up old wars(e.i I will not be specific) i've already met people with massive trade amounts that are abusive and insulting. I'm not going to be ignorant and say that it isn't likely a high trade amount would mean a good reputation and a good trader, but I don't think it's the only measuring stick.  If anything it's also risky to trade with a high rep person because they are seen as a form of infallible. So if something goes awry in the communication they automatically get the benefit of the doubt and you get the screw.

Have a nice day all! smile

I don't get the point of everyone saying it's over, then someone jumping in an hour later to bump the thread to get it all going again. Letting it die, means letting it die, not resurecting it a few hours later.

I don't understand the being forced to send first because someone has a bunch more trades than a person. I didn't even have a trade yet and the person I negotiated with sent first. We are doing an almost 100$ deal. someone can just fluff their trades by sending out a bunch of dollar cards back and forth until they get 30 feedback then decide they are going to badtrade a tarmogoyf and split. I realize this will stop alot of my deals but I won't ever send first. I know i'm trustworthy, other people not so much.

This site needs to do a little better at letting you know if you are trading with an established adult or a 16 year old. You don't even know people's ages or anything. I find it weird that where you can trade 100$'s os dollars of cards you don't even have a person DOB.

Again, two sides to every story and you both are whining like little girls. BTW all you are doing is (as Paul stated) making the community less and less likely to trade with the both of you. The bad trade forum exists for a reason, keep your drama out of the community forums. Can a mod please close this thread?

I absolutely agree, and joecat was out of line bringing the BTR into this thread in the first place.

WTF did i just read. what a slanted view of what actually happened.

You proposed a trade, i didn't like it. I countered, you didn't like it. Instead of putting your big boy pants and moving on, you decided to take it a step further and wail like a baby and and call me names. Now you are here trying to appeal to the masses by making up some really lame "I did it for the people speech." Grow the hell up, you immature brat. Nobody forced you to do anything. There is a cancel button. You hit it and bid a person farwell, get some thicker skin.

Here's a simple question: did you or did you not try to evaluate your cards at your own value based on past value?

His story explains the trade in question (http://deckbox.org/trades/117823?s=33382) better than yours.

People making up their own value for cards is a personal pet peeve.  Card value constantly change.  You can speculate all you want on card value but if you want to trade for cards on the decline at the lower value, then wait for that card to actually reach that value (unless both parties agree beforehand of course).  The same with trading cards on the rise for higher than current.  You don't get to value a rising card at some higher future value until that card actually reaches that number.  Of course a trade is more than just comparing numbers.  It is, however, insulting when one party starts pulling out random numbers out of nowhere.

That's fine, and it's my right that if my card is on a downswing and i don't want to trade it, then i won't trade it. I didn't want to trade the card. it was in my inventory not on my tradelist. So if he wanted it so bad then he either took my offer or moved on.

Last I checked, I am free to do what I want with my cards, as is he. If i don't want face value for something and he's asking me for it, I don't have to make the trade .

Morph - This was turning out to be a nice thread that contained helpful ways for people to ensure that their time on DB was spent more effectively.  You hijacked it for something silly.  Can you please stop so that we can have the thread back and continue discussing how to get trades done on this site?

http://qcvoices.qwriting.qc.cuny.edu/files/2013/03/stoner-sloth-meme-generator-its-k-bro-just-chill-out-49c446.jpg

Actually joecat hijacked it to push his friends agenda and slander my name. Just like you now, are misconstruing what is happening and trying to lay blame on myself instead of where it appropriately belongs.

I hear what you are saying though, so if no more responses are made towards me, consider it dropped. If it continues, then expect the same in retaliation

Morph, I think it couldn't hurt to maybe take a few deep breaths and a short break.  I know you're really upset, but nothing here is even remotely worth getting that angry about.  It's the internet, so let's just shrug it off and move along.  And in the interests of keeping everything here pleasant, let's please avoid the name-calling.

Thanks!

Thanks for your concern but i'm not upset in the slighest. I'm just trying to clear the air but joecat is more interested in bating me. For all i know the other poster who made his comment is one of their friends and i'm just being trolled now.

I know I didn't do anything wrong, I know Joecat is sticking up for his "friend" although not doing it in a very fair and rational way. The other guy just doesn't know how to read.

But i'm good wink

This might be part of your problem in getting people to trade with you.  Good luck.

when did i say i had trouble making trades? I'm not the creator of this thread. the OP said he was offering people deals in their favor and still having problems making trades, so i chimed in telling him to make me offers in my favor and i'd trade with him. Are people that illiterate here?

Is the lack of reading comprehension and rudeness just an American thing?

So you feel I shouldn't trash his name, yet as a third party and not knowing what transpired you feel it's right for you to trash my name? So I guess now we know joecat is a hypocrite.

How exactly do you see offering someone a deal in my favor as ripping them off? Are you not familiar with the english language? Ripping someone off isn't making a bad offer, it's stealing from them. Glad to know that if someone makes you a bad offer that you are going to berrate them, call them names and then cause a stink about it. *Note to self, don't trade with joecat either* As you can see from the BTR I remain composed and polite the entire time. Please keep in mind he offered me a trade after reading this "i'm down to trade stuff in my favor lol" in this thread. So you might not like what I offer, but I can offer someone an extra 100% for their cards or 50% less if i want to, it's my right as a trader. Calling me out for either is tactless, and meddling in someone else's business is just plain lame.

Now if you don't mind, mind your own business unless you are mb himself or his boyfriend. Thanks. What you are doing now, on his behalf, is bullying. Grow up Joecat

I have found that people on the forums are usually better to respond than randoms. However i have been lucky. With 100 proposed trades 50 of them went through as completed. It just depends on who u ask and what you are offering. I agree however that if you have been inactive for months or even years the account shouldn't come up as having that card. It just creates a large pile to sift through that feels infinite.

I also think there should be etiquette on here. If a trade is offered and you decline a simple no thank you and a reason why should suffice. I've had trades sit for weeks with no response and when i check their account they have done 6-10 trades in that time but only mine is unanswered. There has to be some form of NO Thank You so someone is not left hoping...

I think this is very important, I just had mbknight offer me a trade I wasn't hot on, I proposed a counter trade which wasn't in his favor. Thorugh the process I was extremely polite thanking him for his interest and saying if he wasn't interested thanks anyways. He could have easily just turned it down and went on his way, instead he decided he was going to berrate and insult me and call me retarded, leave me indifferent feedback warning others not to trade with me all because i increased the value of the trade in my favor instead of his. For a power trader like him with 350+ trades, you'd think he could have just moved on instead of acting like a 10 year old. So I advise anyone in this thread(Since he obviously saw my name in here and thats why he offered me a trade) to tread lightly if you are thinking of dealing with mbknight. He's quite the jerk.

This board is super quiet, let's get some trades going. I've got what you need smile

Maybe someone with a little bit more experience then me can help me out here. I'm not quite sure what to do with my 4 deathrite shamans. I know they are a good staple and i'd like to maybe go to a friday night magic and not get my butt stomped.

Any suggestions would be great.
