Its not so much being forced as is something that someone who has less refs or is new should be prepared for. It doesnt always HAVE to apply but you shoudnt take it personally if asked and generally the people who have more successful trades, also have had equally unsuccessful ones so its a way of protecting themselves.

Its also gain trust and respect among other traders. Its more than just something to hold over peoples heads. It actual proof that you are trustworthy. Im not saying this as criticism but what weight does your word hold when you say your trustworthy as opposed to if I say the same? Im by no means trying berate or belittle you and you could very well be a trustworthy person. I merely saying there is actual proof and evidance to support my claim. Sure there is the risk you are taking by trading online and getting scammed but your less likely to get scammed by someone who has a good reputation than someone a with a few trades. This isnt just a unwritten rule on this site. You can to any other site (MOTL, MTGS, Youtube) and its pretty much the norm everyone accepts.

I dont think someones age really matters all that much. I know some pretty smart 16 year olds and have also dealt with some pretty dense adults so the door swings both ways.

mates lets lay this to rest ad call it a day and go our seperate ways. There is never a winner or loser in an argument just two hurt people. So i advise both of you to please stop squabbling or saying "who said what" and "he did this" and lay it to rest.... what good does arguing do on the internet? u cant even see the person or hear them so you might as well close this thread!!!

Again, two sides to every story and you both are whining like little girls. BTW all you are doing is (as Paul stated) making the community less and less likely to trade with the both of you. The bad trade forum exists for a reason, keep your drama out of the community forums. Can a mod please close this thread?

You proposed a trade, i didn't like it. I countered, you didn't like it. Here's a simple question: did you or did you not try to evaluate your cards at your own value based on past value?

People making up their own value for cards is a personal pet peeve.  Card value constantly change.  You can speculate all you want on card value but if you want to trade for cards on the decline at the lower value, then wait for that card to actually reach that value (unless both parties agree beforehand of course).  The same with trading cards on the rise for higher than current.  You don't get to value a rising card at some higher future value until that card actually reaches that number.  Of course a trade is more than just comparing numbers.  It is, however, insulting when one party starts pulling out random numbers out of nowhere.

I have found that people on the forums are usually better to respond than randoms. However i have been lucky. With 100 proposed trades 50 of them went through as completed. It just depends on who u ask and what you are offering. I agree however that if you have been inactive for months or even years the account shouldn't come up as having that card. It just creates a large pile to sift through that feels infinite.

I also think there should be etiquette on here. If a trade is offered and you decline a simple no thank you and a reason why should suffice. I've had trades sit for weeks with no response and when i check their account they have done 6-10 trades in that time but only mine is unanswered. There has to be some form of NO Thank You so someone is not left hoping...
