Should the price also include as a minimum the buylist price of a bunch of places?

As an example at my lgs Distracting Geist // Clever Distraction
I can buy it between 0,25$ and 0,40$
Their buylist is at 0,03$ in cash and 0,04$ in credit

TCG market price is at 0,02$

Since I can make more money selling it for the buylist price  than the market price the market price should be higher.

I am not sure I follow you here so I might be reading this wrong, but are you suggesting that price on deckbox should be higher because your local store will buy a card for more than what deckbox has it listed as?

so my deckbox value is actually at 43K today ... which is within $400 off my price on the other sites so it looks like we are down to tcg market pricing now

I have not seen any major decreases on my other apps the past few days (in fact it has ticked up a bit probably use to Black Friday sales). I would assume the drops are due to deckbox coming closer to tcg market.

Honestly I don't really pay attention to prices on deckbox too closely; the prices are usually too widely varied from the real heartbeat of the market (reasons have been well documented) so I use other sites to track my prices which allow me to use TCG Market as a price source. It is hard to justify trades against deckbox when I see a card might be $10 here but the average of the last few with actual sales records only sold for $6.

I have not noticed any drastic drops in prices on my other sites. I have noticed a steady decline in prices over the past few months. When we Americans were given that last stimulus check it seemed that people invested in solid assets, for most people that would be metals or real estate, but I think the gamer invested in trading cards (this was around the time that people were getting shot at Target for Pokemon Cards). I'd say since the end of April there has been a steady decline in prices as the market has been normalizing. Honestly it is too high still and needs to come back down a lot.

I don't think we know what deckbox uses for prices although I believe it is some factor of its own market place and TCG Mid prices or at least some site which references TCG Mid for pricing (for instance mtggoldfish uses tcg mid). For some reason I looked a few days ago and I saw that my collection on deckbox was worth about $52,000 and change and right now my collection TCG Mid is about $53,000. This is where my pricing speculation comes from as my deckbox value and TCG Mid value are pretty similar even down to the card level sometimes. I have not seen any major drops in prices on my higher end cards which could lead to direct volatility for the collection.

I do see that as of right now my deckbox price has dropped to $47,000 which is a lot closer to what my TCG Market price is which is $43,000. So I am seeing the same drop you are on the deckbox side, but I have not seen the same type of drop on then TCG side. I don't know how often prices are updated on any site so there could be a huge drop coming to my TCG side soon and I just don't see it yet, but I kinda doubt that much of a drop that fast. Sebi has stated in the past few months how he wants to try and get prices inline with the real world market so this could be that or just the start of that, but that is just speculation on my part. Personally I feel it would be welcoming to feel confident in deckbox prices again.

it is under Investigator's Journal #345

Also .. Sebi, expect Double Feature cards to be available to import any day now. The Double Feature set is just a reprint of the two Innistrad sets. 100% of the cards from each set (so yes there are two Snarling Wolf with the exact same artwork in the set). The only difference is they put the art in photoshop and set to greyscale. TCGPlayer already has all the artwork so I figure it will be available to you soon too.

Nice. I already classified my first batch and was ready to enter them.

There is again a  new feature on cards to screw up classification.  There is some embossing on the border. This is not tool marks. From Draft booster I got 6/22 plains with embossing to give you an idea about number. While looking at the card on the table we don't see the difference. You can feel it when handling the card and while moving it at light the raised part of the card will reflect the light a little more because of edges  but we are far from foil reflection.

I believe what you are talking about is a glossy border on the lands, similar to what the Japanese MID eternal night lands had on them. The American (and possibly Belgian, unconfirmed on this) printing of the MID lands had a finish on the borders of the lands and the other black and white showcase art that actually dulled the color of the borders. The Japanese borders were very color-rich and saturated under the glossy border treatment.

I, personally, would not consider this a different type of card. It's just an unfortunate treatment that differs from what was clearly the goal. The glossy seems like what would have been the goal since the American printing looks so absolutely uninteresting.

I noticed the glossiness along the frame borders (at first I though that was the foiling). I looked through all my MID ones and they are all glossy. Now the VOW ones. I have 12 of them that are not glossy at all. I did 2 prereleases this weekend and I assume those 12 are the 12 lands from those packs. So just like you are saying. I know my boxes have been Japanese printings and I thought the prereleases all US printing (i honestly didn't pay enough attention). I don't think it is an intentional thing and it could just be chalked up to similar printing variants we see in every set. You'd think they would hammer out an exact printing procedure for all their print houses, but that is asking WAY too much for poor WotC. >.>

Umm ... okay so firstly Your deck says Odric, Master Tactician is your commander? Is that right? If it is your deck is not legal.

One of the biggest parts of deck building in Commander in color identity. Your commander will have a color identity which is comprised of the colors of mana needed to cast or use its abilities. So basically you tell the color identity by looking at the color pips on a card (outside of reminder text) and that would be a cards color identity. For instant: Niv-Mizzet, Parun is red and blue; Crypt Ghast is black (because the white color symbol in the reminder text is ignored); Extus, Oriq Overlord is white, black, and red since his front side is white and black and his back side is black and red. Najeela, the Blade-Blossom is all 5 colors, even though she is a red card she has an ability with all 5 colors; Odric, Master Tactician is white.

When you build a deck your deck needs to comply with the color identity of your Commander. Since Odric is white you can only have other white or colorless cards in your deck. Anything that has a blue color identity can't be in the deck. I see a lot of blue in your deck and none of these card can be in there. You will need to change your commander. Honestly Medomai the Ageless is the only legal commander in your deck right now. I don't know if you just made a mistake entering the cards in or if you didn't know, but it is a major part of deck building.

As far as your deck and how it plays, it doesn't look like there are a lot of great synergize here. I see you call your deck a bounce deck, but I don't see too many bounce targets. You want to focus on thing with good enters or leaves the battlefield effects in a bounce deck. For instance a Soulherder which gets bigger every time you bounce something of yours, Blade Splicer which gets you a 3/3 golem every time it enters the battlefield, Ranar the Ever-Watchful gets you sprits, Mulldrifter which gets you cards when it enters, or Agent of Treachery which steals things when it etbs. You want to focus on abilities like that than can be repeated over and over again. You also want a few more cards that will bounce additional things like a Conjurer's Closet or Flickerwhips or Ephemerate or Restoration Angel. It would be helpful (not necessary) if your commander also help with your synergizes. I'd look at Brago or Ranar see if you like how he works with these cards.

Remember this though, you are playing in a 4 player format. Your expected win percentage is only 25%. You are expected to lose more games than you win. Losing 5 games is not necessarily a bad thing; if you were 0-5 and then won the next 2 you are winning at a 28% and you are above your expected in percentage. What matters in how you lose. Were you about to win and couldn't close out the game? Were you blown out and you did not stand a chance? Did you feel your deck has a particular weakness that was exploited? These are the types of questions should be asking when gaging how your deck is playing b/c win/lose is not a great metric in this type of format.

BTW: Would it be possible to expand the Partner upgrade in the near future?

In formats like Oath Breaker you are able to designate a signature spell that exists in your command zone. It would be nice to be able to do something similar with these signature spells as you would with a partner commander.

Also .. maybe ... possibly ... could we have it where we can designate a Companion? And maybe have it where out Companion/Commanders could appear in their own category so they are not mixed in with the rest of the creatures/sideboard. Not a big thing, but could be a nice update for later.

Good Day

So this is a suggestion that is just visual so I don't think it would be that high a priority or anything, but what is the possibility of left justifying the inventory table on the individual card pages. It isn't bad as it is now, but since multiple flags can be put on a card and there is no requirement that they be flagged when some things are and some things are not the table can look odd. I just think it might look better with the prices and flags flush to the left. Just a suggestion, nothing world breaking.

https://drive.google.com/file/d/15KEbFJ … bPA_6/view

I have been meaning to suggest this for a while: Do you think it would be prudent to change the name of the tokens?

I see that you did what I was going to suggest with the Timeless Witness and naming it "Token: Timeless Witness" but there are other tokens that will say Card: Name. ie. Bird :when you search for it comes up as "Card: Bird" in the search box and will just be called Bird when you go to the page. Other sites will put Token at the end of the name, but I kinda like the look that you have now and have it say Token: Name. Could it be possible to maybe change all the tokens to do similar things?

Call USPS

You will be on hold for a while, but at least you will talk to someone.

I had a lot of things stay in one place for well over a week and I had to contact USPS to get them to move it along. Usually this took maybe 2 days tops to get it pushed to the next location. If you are being ignored with missing mail requests calling them up will kick someone's ass into gear and get things moving. If the package has not be delivered is a long time they will also suggest putting a claim for lost parcel in and getting your money back. I have not done this myself, but I have bought postage through PayPal that there was an error in printing it and I was never able to mail it and I think that was maybe a 3 week turn around on a refund I'd assuming an official lost parcel would have a similar or maybe a little longer turn around for pricing.

The unfortunate fact of the matter is USPS is probably the cheapest option there is. Going through UPS or FedEx would probably cost you double what it would from the USPS. That being said if you were able to buy postage through something like stamps.com or some other similar site. Paypal is supposed to be switching to a service that has both USPS and UPS support, but I don't know how to use that service through Paypal honestly, it isn't through their old multi-order shipping I can tell you that.

I think Scryfall and other websites also have this as separate printings, and not a "flag", like normal foil. That is, if you go to a card that has for that printing a normal, a foil and and etched foil version, they don't all show up there as 3 different prices for that card. They will show up as a printing that has normal and foil, and the etched will be a separate printing.

It appears (again I am just guessing since I don't know Scryfall's actual system) that the foil itself is a flag. I know by looking over the API documentation that you can distinguish the pricing by usd or usd_foil (which alone gives me a clue that it is probably a flag), but I don't really have the tools to use their API effectively to really look. I really only have a rudimentary search function integrated into a Google Sheets that someone else coded atm. They will have different id for different printings, but non-foil Dominaria Opt and foil Dominaria Opt foil should have the same id.

Here is what they have for Opt on MTGJson (surprisingly there are only 14 different versions of the card). I hid a lot of the columns here as there is a LOT of information that isn't really relevant to the discussion. I also apologize if the formatting gets muffed I added some tabs to try and line things up correctly to read easier. I'll attempt to bold face the two Strixhave Mystical Archive Etched Foil Opts. As you can see on MTGJson they have a hasFoil flag and a hasNonFoil flag. In fact they have those two versions of Opt flagged as not even having a non-foil version, which is good. I would assume Scryfall works similarly. I think MTGJson uses Scryfall in building its card database, but I could be the other way around too.

I downloaded my inventory off Archidekt that DOES use Scryfall for their card information and after an exhaustive search because their system absolutely SUCKS and their back end does what ever the hell it fricking wants to at any given time -- a good responsive system that actually does what you tell it to .. that is what makes Deckbox as good as it is -- I did find cards that I have in both foil and non-foil and they both use the same scryfall id.

I don't know if you want to take a look at MTGJson. They do have a csv (or SQL) version of their files out there if that makes it easier to see what is going on https://mtgjson.com/downloads/all-files/ . If I were in your shoes I would probably look into going this route and incorporating these two resources into the deckbox infrastructure, but then again I don't know what Deckbox's backend looks like and  thus can't make the risk/reward analysis necessary to make a real informed decision on that front. I think it will just be easier on you going forward, but I can only guess that it would be hell getting to that point in the meantime.

Deckbox's database should, as much as is possible, reflect the true edition and card schema created by WotC.

I know I mentioned it before, but tying card records to a scryfall id (or other more common id, unfortunately multiverse id is not good enough) would I think solve a lot of issues. On Scryfall if a card has 16 different versions, between reprint or premium printings, it will have 16 different IDs. With their API you can get prices that are updated more often (daily? hourly?) and it is split out between usd and usd_foil (as well as eur and tix if people wanted to use those). New cards come in nearly next day when previews are happening so if the system can be updated I'm sure Deckbox could also update with similar frequency as a result and thus no more having people 80 times that Modern Horizons 2 is missing as if the 79 other posts didn't say the exact same thing. There is also MTGJson which could be used as well ... ...

I'm sure the backend was not made to handle it, but updating the infrastructure to take advantage of these resources now would be considerably less work going forward

Also, WotC became an internal division in Hasbro. The chances of Hasbro selling WotC are frankly remote.

I believe this would make it easier to sell off as its assets are not interwoven and its health is more separated from Hasbro as a whole and just is more attractive looking from the outside. I mean I could be wrong, but you see it a lot when a company breaks off a piece of their business then that piece of business is sold in the near future, even if it is not the initial intention.

Will they? I don't think it is in their immediate interests as WotC is their biggest money maker iirc, but if and when the bubble burst (as the ebb and flow of business would dictates it will burst) they will probably be more vulnerable to sale than if they were as they were before. I mean thus the old adage of buy low sell high would be in play if we are going to be perfectly honest. Remember that business is not dictated by doing the smart thing as we would easily be able to see, it is dictated by whether so old codger that sits at a long table gets and extra penny or not.

I put in my entire collection of Mystery Booster cards I got from PAX and a box before putting them into the system (since the set was not up yet and they were all reprints anyway). I was able to easily add them, but the page did kinda slow up if I wanted to make changes to it. I think that speed would come of course with distinct cards and not just cards in general. Currently I don't have many more than 120 or so card in a deck and I don't see many speed issues

@sebi

Since we have your attention on the tread right now I kinda wanted to bring up the issue of card prices. Now I know deckbox has its own way of calculating pricing for cards and I have heard of the issues with TCGplayer in the past and everything. I get it. However the prices here compared to the rest of the collection universe has been exponentially increasing and since all the recent card spikes and such has just exacerbated the issue.

Currently on deckbox my collection is worth $51,000 which is exciting to see, but I also have my collection in the DelverLens app since it allows me to see other price structures and according to the app my collection, with TCG Market pricing, is only worth $40,000. That is over a 20% increase in value here compared to the rest of the world. A 20% difference is extremely hard to justify as some sort of variance between systems. This is a very well known issue and because of this many of us go to TCG player to check prices before making trades here because we just can't rely on the prices. This is just extra overhead which makes using deckbox a little less desirable.

It also does not seem like prices are really updating nearly as much as they should be or not in the best way possible.

I have a Mythic Edition Jace, the Mind Sculptor. You can see in my inventory today that it is $313.37. According to TCGPlayer it is about $180 ($210 mid). According to MTGGoldfish it is about (which uses TCGMid for prices) it has not been over $300 since January 2019. That seems to be about the last time I saw the price of the card change on deckbox was about 2 years ago.

I also get the other side of the coin too. Right now my highest priced card is a foil 7th edition Strands of Night at nearly $600. There is no way in HELL that card is $600. It was steady at about $36 until some smacked-asses decided to up the price of TCG Mid (and probably thus their collection's price) by putting them up for $600. Same thing happened with Magistrate's Veto a few months back when one guy put them up three of them up for between $1500 - $2000 each. I'd love to see my collection jump an extra $1500 over night, but when the card is really worth like $5 ... moral of the story never use TCG Mid for pricing.

I would LOVE someone to want to make a trade for my Strands and give me $600 in value for it, but I would not even feel right accepting it because I know that price is inflated by 1500%. Since I know it is obviously erroneous I then have of go check another website for a price and since I have to compare apples to apples I have to check all their card prices which just takes a lot of time to even out a trade that way. Then their is always the issue of the other party not using that scale for price or seeing a trade that appears uneven because of deckbox pricing and making it seem like I am trying to rip them off in some way. Where as if everything was just more inline with the rest of the world that kinda thing is just eliminated.

I have not made a trade with just deckbox prices in a year and a half maybe? I have had to check other websties for prices because everything is just so off from reality overall. I'd like to get back to the point where I feel I can trust deckbox a little more on pricing again.

I would like to say that if you are willing to follow Scryfall's lead with the etched foiling that maybe you could use Scryfall for pricing. Their prices are not an fluid as TCG obviously, but they seem fairly consistent with actual real prices. And then in that case you could even incorporate the scryfallid into your database and maybe make it available for exporting thus making it even easier for everyone to cross reference between systems since it is such a common identifier these days. Just and idea on that front.

Thanks!

How is the curl on those guys? I kinda wanted to get one for an archmage, but since they only came foil I didn't.

So I know Deckbox has the option to put all thing for trade or all unused cards for trade.
It is something I never really used before, but I am curious about it.

First I know if you have your inventory filtered and then do and export that you will just export what is in the filter, does that work for mark all/unused for trade in the same way. So say I have all my Strixhaven cards filtered and do mark all for trade will that put all of my inventory up for trade or only the strixhaven cards?

Second if I have something for trade already but I put it in a deck, for instance my extended art Doom Foretold is currently in a deck, but I do have it for trade if I used the mark unused for trade will that delist Doom Foretold for trade?

I'm just curious since I'm in the middle of confirming my inventory in general

Side question: Can your pricing system easily support not loading prices for erroneous cards, leaving it N/A? If so, that would be a way to help users identify cards that don't exist as well as discourage incorrectly using flags (since I think most users really enjoy seeing the value displayed). Obviously it's not a perfect solution (the perfect solution would be to hard-set flag values when there's only one option available). For instance, there'd be "N/A" overlap with brand new cards that simply don't have prices yet. But it would be more accurate (cards that don't exist can't have prices) while potentially decreasing user error. Just throwing the idea out there, in case it's viable!

I don't know if that is possible tbh. I, of course, don't know the backend of deckbox but with so many variations of card and how different systems track things is it difficult syncing up systems. I know archidekt can't for the life of them figure one version of a card from another between card kingdom and tcg player pricing. Unless you are going to assign every card a scryfall id and use them for pricing it would be difficult to match things up, but even then Scryfall misses prices on things.

The real issue is WotC doesn't give out a multiverse id for all card variants. You can go to Gatherer and look up Temple of Deceit and you will see 2 versions (one from Theros and one from Theros Beyond Death) with 2 multiverse ID even though you also have the planeswalker stamped version and the borderless version (or is that an extended art version?? I'm not sure.). Then you go to Vorinclex, Monstrous Raider and you can see 3 variations with 3 different IDs (which is again missing at least the planeswalker stamp). But then you go to Vorinclex, Voice of Hunger which the gatherer doesn't have the version from The List. I don't know if maybe mtgJSON fixes some of these issues???

As with most things WotC does it is a mess

All the Kaldheim art cards display as the signature etched versions.  Will there be a way to differentiate between those and the non-signature etched versions?

Same is true with the Zendikar Art Card. I don't think it is anything that is going to change so a good alternative would be the use the flags to flag any stamped as either foil or signed and leave any that don't without any flags. Seems like a good solution that I have seen people do.

What other card is being added?

Are you saying that if you add card 280 then 281 also gets added and vise versa?

WOTC has repeatedly said that they only test new releases for standard and limited
