I know, and it does reduce the count in your inventory. However, it then requires manual intervention to reduce the count of detailed card information (edition, foil, tradelist checkbox, etc.). This makes sense when in some cases, e.g. how does the site know that I just traded a version of the card from set A instead of set B. What I am suggesting is that it automatically remove the ones that have been specifically marked with the "this one is in my tradelist" checkbox.

After a trade is completed and cards have been marked as sent, the site will automatically remove them from your inventory. However, if you have filled out detailed information those entries must be removed manually. I assumed using the tradelist checkbox would tell the site which entries in the detailed information should be removed if a trade was completed, but it appears that they must still be removed manually.
If not, then I don't think I understand the purpose of the tradelist checkbox?

Re: Trading legacy rares for M12, SOM, MBS, NPH, Etc rares and mythics (2 replies, posted in Trading Post)
What you can do is to look over your list of things you have to trade and for the highish-value ones go to the individual card page. There you will see a section that lists which users have that card in their tradelist. You can change this to show people who have it in their wishlist. Then you can click on those users' names and it will show you the intersection of your two trade and wish lists. Check if the user is has set their trade area to be compatible (many folks are local only), see if there's anything the user has that you want, and then propose a trade.
Same process works the other way around if there are specific cards you want, just view the card pages list of users with it in their tradelist and see if the intersection shows anything that user has marked on their wishlist from your set of cards. This way around I occasionally make use of the ability to show the intersection of not just my tradelist but my entire inventory in case they want something that I have, haven't marked as specifically for trade, and wouldn't mind trading.
Good luck.

Re: trouble entering new decks/folders (11 replies, posted in Site Discussion)
There is a workaround. In IE, hit the Alt button to bring up the pull-down menus. Go to Tools -> Compatibility View Settings. Add deckbox.org to the list of sites (probably empty). Then when you visit the site, there will be a "broken page" icon in between the maginfying glass and the refresh button. If it is highlighted blue then the site is emulating older IE behavior (and you'll see a big warning at the top of the site that your IE version isn't the newest), but creating folders and decks will work. If it is highlighted grey, just click it to turn it blue.

Re: trouble entering new decks/folders (11 replies, posted in Site Discussion)
I can replicate it with IE 9. If you have a different browser installed (or an earlier version of IE even) it should behave properly. It looks like the javascript code was written before IE 9 came out and contains some code branches that do special things for IE (because IE used to require such special cases). They got better with IE 9 which unfortunately means that the special stuff you used to have to do now breaks the correctly-working IE 9.
For the site programmer(s):
The error is INVALID_CHARACTER_ERR (5) in tcg.js line 8346, specifically this part:
/* Element creation */
var createElement = (function() {
...
var element = document.createElement(tagParts.join("")); <-- line 8346
IE9 changed the way createElement works so it can no longer take a full html tag with all the params. You have to just give it the base element and then call setAttribute for each attribute. Presumably the code to handle non-IE browsers (lines 8358-8366) should work with IE 9 (or be similar to what will work).

I'm not sure if this was part of Prototype 1.6.1 or is custom code. If it is the former it seems there is a newer version 1.7 of Prototype.

Your link to your entire M:tG inventory is http://deckbox.org/sets/74718 . If you're using that as a list of what's for trade (as opposed to what you own) then that's enough. If you're still entering stuff and eventually plan to make use of this site's tradelist/wishlist functionality (right now they're both empty for you) you'll eventually want to link to just your tradelist at http://deckbox.org/sets/74719 and wishlist at http://deckbox.org/sets/74720 . Filling those out helps facilitate trades on the site itself since it will calculate the intersection of two users' trades/wants.

Topic: feature request: automatically set tradelist checkbox (1 replies, posted in Site Discussion)
When a given cards count in my tradelist changes, it would be helpful for the site to check against the number in my inventory. If they are the same, then all the tradelist checkboxes for the individual card details could be automatically checked off.
Similarly if they amount is not the same (say I want to only trade 1 but have 3) but the details of those 3 are exactly the same, the site could automatically check off 1 card's tradelist checkbox.

I've infrequently noticed some exceptionally slow response times. It wasn't following a discernible pattern. I was assuming perhaps the machine hosting the site ran daily maintenance potentially causing slowdowns during odd hours.

Re: feature request: more filter options (6 replies, posted in Site Discussion)
I meant any multicolor card regardless of color. I sort my cards by each of the five colors, colorless, multicolor, and land. I have frequently wanted to see all the cards that are exactly X and Y and no other colors (or at least X and Y), as the existing color filter allows. However other times I will just want to see all gold/hybrid cards. Sorting by color was not something I thought to do and actually works pretty well for my purposes. I agree it's not pretty :-) but it basically does what I need it to do.

1) a way to show only non-creature artifacts
2) a way to show any card with multiple colors

Re: New to Deckbox. Help with entering collection (4 replies, posted in General Discussion)
There are likely multiple problems. I sorted my inventory by descending price and see at least three distinct ones. (see attached)
1) duplicate record for a single card in deckbox.org (red) - here there are two cards (http://deckbox.org/mtg/Fire and http://deckbox.org/mtg/Nighteyes%20the%20Desecrator) which exist elsewhere in the database as well (http://deckbox.org/mtg/Fire%20//%20Ice and http://deckbox.org/mtg/Nezumi%20Graverobber). Those versions do have prices.
2) no price on tcgplayer (purple) - here there are no prices to draw from so no price is (legitimately) displayed (http://deckbox.org/mtg/Adventurers'%20Guildhouse and http://deckbox.org/mtg/The%20Ultimate%2 %20Service). There might be a better way to convey that instead of just leaving the price blank.
3) unknown reason why the price is $0 (green) - here copies do exist on tcgplayer and prices are shown on the deckbox page for the card but in the inventory the price shows as $0 for some reason (http://deckbox.org/mtg/Hymn%20to%20Tourach and http://deckbox.org/mtg/Savannah). I don't even have a guess as to what's wrong here.

Re: Your 3 most favorite cards of all time and why? (2 replies, posted in General Discussion)
There are of course favorite utility cards which I'm perpetually buying more of since they find their way into so many of my decks, cards like Darksteel Ingot or Temporal Isolation.
It's probably more interesting to mention cards that jumped out at me and screamed "make a deck with me". Probably my oldest deck that still exists in some form has Varchild's War-Riders. It started as a trample/rampage deck before I eventually condeded that all the trample/rampage cards aren't very good. Then it morphed into a way to take advantage of their cumulative upkeep and defeat the other player through giving them tokens.
The wackiness and randomness of Time Spiral really brought my group of friends back into the game in a big way and one of the cards that spoke to me was Stuffy Doll. It found its way into a "I don't care if you damage my creatures" deck.
I had always had an Enchantress deck of some sort but Yavimaya Enchantress is the one that really made it pop when I added four of them. Ancestral Mask on her along with all the other enchantments that will be out there just start to get a little ridiculous.
There are other cards that I have set aside that are still waiting on that a-ha moment to figure out how to utilize them well: Norin the Wary, Krark's Thumb, Helix Pinnacle, and many others.

This is a known issue with all the time shifted cards from time spiral. You can work around after adding it to your inventory by using the red arrow dropdown to the left of the cardname.

Re: New to Deckbox. Help with entering collection (4 replies, posted in General Discussion)
Thanks for building deckbox.org! I'm glad I found it. I decided to give it a try. But I have some questions:
I thought I would start with entering my decks and I noticed that it was saying that I didn't own the cards. I am probably not going to add any of the boxes of cards that don't actually see play or even get considered (I'm looking at you Camel). I've only entered 1 deck so far. Is there a way to change an entire deck to "owned"?
I don't think there is a one-click solution, but you can quickly go down the leftmost (green) column representing the inventory count and click each field to type in the number of that particular card you have.
As I enter the cards, I'm noticing some weird cards values, such as Birds of Paradise (Beta!) coming up as $2.27 and Savannah having no price what so ever! What's up with that?
I'm not entirely sure, but prices seem to come from tcgplayer.com. I don't know how the different versions are factored in, but you'll see it go in the other direction too. I have some cards from Anthologies that show up as worth way more than they should be because their other printing is from Legends, etc.
Actually, being a long time player, I wanted to see the value of my cards (because I just realized that they were worth more than "a little bit") in the set that I own them. When I type in Erhnam Djinn, I mean Arabians, not whatever set it was reprinted in! Is there a way to change the set of a card?
From your inventory, you can click the red arrow to the left of the card name to set the edition. However, this doesn't change any of the price data. That is stored per card name.

Agreed, Keep at it:D Ill check your trades too. Im looking for lots of vintage/legacy/modern stuff. Nothing on my tradelist atm, as im still entering inventory. If you let me know what your looking for ill definatly see what we can do.
Cheers
Jeff
I know we don't have any overlap, but it seems like you'd be okay trading by mail. I just wanted to make you aware that your profile says you will only trade locally. So even if we did have some overlap I would probably have shied away from suggesting a trade because of that. Before I look at anything else, I see if the person has said they specifically only want to trade locally.

Users can find a list of all decks that have that card but a list of all *my* decks with that card would be equally useful (if not more).

Re: adding inventory (4 replies, posted in General Discussion)
From your inventory, to the left of the card name there is a red triangle icon which opens a menu to "edit card details". From there you can set the foil property or the different editions of the card that you own.

Re: vent: people don't respond to trade requests (11 replies, posted in Trading Post)
I would hope the email reminders would take care of that. :-) But it is surely possible that people just ignore them, or don't check their email, or have a fake email address registered with the site.
I was more surprised than frustrated, really. Only about 10% of trades I've proposed seem to generate any response (positive or negative). Hopefully as the site grows the hit percentage will increase.
