Check out this Living End Deck, its from a local player and he typically does quite well. (top 8 in 60+ player tourneys) Its what I get my experience of it from and I think in general its pretty good for what it is. Im not sure if its 100% just a netdeck or not I stopped checking XD but I think it should give you a good idea of what direction to head in. IMO the weakest part of it is the white splash in the mana base for leyline in the board but either way.

Re: (Modern) Living End (10 replies, posted in Decks and Deckbuilding)
Living end is a great deck. Its only major issue is cost and graveyard hate these days
You probably want some number of these main deck depending on budget.
Shriekmaw
beast within
Spike feeder
Fulminator Mage
Avalanche Riders
A mainstay portion of the deck is Land Destruction, its principally what enables the secondary win con of Playing fatties and swinging and I think I've probably lost more games to fatties like that than to Living end going off once I understood how to play around it.
You will want some of these in your sideboard ingot chewer and maybe even main deck.
Personally Im not a fan of the architects of will myself but they could work. I'd stick to stuff you can play main deck if necessary though.
Your mana base could also use some upgrading depending on how competitive your local area is. I'd stick to a few fetches or shocks, but keep it low to keep you from putting yourself into danger range of aggro decks if you have unlimited budget.
OR drop the Terramorphics and get a few pain lands instead! If you are like most of us and dont have unlimited funds for the game

Re: [Standard-ish] Selesnya agro-ish (5 replies, posted in Decks and Deckbuilding)
I think TyWoo has it right about now. The Hex Proof Elf from 2014 would be a good choice too.
Without Shocks you need to adjust your mix because you have a much weaker mana base. Especially for an aggro deck. I'd try going all green splashing white for Ethereal Armour, Eidolon of Countless Battles and maybe Unflinching Courage but that breaks your rules so I dont know.
I think your extra restrictions dont make alot of sense but its your prerogative. The thing is it will be very hard to make a competitive standard deck when you're restricting yourself from the powerhouse block of standard right now, heck even 1/3rd of Theros isnt released yet. So thats about the best advice I have unfortunately.
My last .02 is that if you are aiming for theros based competitive standard some sort of Boros Burn/RDW is probably your best bet.
Firedrinker Satyr
Satyr Firedancer
Minotaur Skullcutter
magma Jet
Searing Blood
They form a fairly solid core to a RDW type deck, though thats not helpful in a thread on Selesnya.

Re: [Standard-ish] Selesnya agro-ish (5 replies, posted in Decks and Deckbuilding)
maybe I don't entirely understand. Is this deck going to remain in standard as it starts rotating or will it be set to the Theros Block + M14? What will it be playing against?

Re: [modern] Goblins for GPT qualifier [improvements] (7 replies, posted in Decks and Deckbuilding)
I forgot the bit where Ancient grudge only works because I assumed you would be splashing some R/G sources main board (Stomping grounds perhaps?) Other options include shatterstorm and shattering spree
Generally I would say if you dont know your meta take a sideboard that can affect as many decks as possible at least partially. You wont get as many deck crippling hose you over type cards but hopefully you'll be able to buff your deck against any opponent you face.
I dont personally like cage because it doesnt stop one of the premier combos in the game, that is Especially strong Vs. On the board turn sideways to win type decks. That is to say it doesnt hose living end and living end is a silly good deck when you dont have counters to stop it.
I also sort of assume that UWR Control and Storm are typically solid match ups for you in that they wont always have the killing power/speed to stop you. Especially storm which relies more on durdling around for a bit first. In which case crypts easily fill the slots of some removal in your deck and do enough to shore up the match (IMO)
Re: Ratchet Bomb. The thing is Affinity usually only runs ~10 cards ratchet bomb effects at 0. 4 of which are the same Legend and none of which are 100% integral to their game plan. On the other hand at 2. Ratchet Bomb hits: 4 Archbound Ravager, 4 cranial Plating, 2-4 Steel Overseer and I suppose 4 Vault Skirge, which are all pretty key in the deck.

Re: [modern] Goblins for GPT qualifier [improvements] (7 replies, posted in Decks and Deckbuilding)
Your sideboard seems to be the weakest part of the deck to me.
You have hate for the following decks as I see it:
-Living End
-Boggle
-generic Removal (For Zoo maybe?)
-USA Control (You're already fast as heck!)
This leaves out some pretty major decks in the format. It seems to me you could better use your side board slots by putting in some hate for:
-Splinter Twin
-Pod Decks
-affinity
I would look at something like
3 Tormod's Crypt
-Living End, Storm
3 Torpor Orb
-Splinter Twin
3 Anger of the Gods
-Pod
-Affinity
-Zoo
-Boggle?
-Yourself!?!
3 Rachet Bomb
-Zoo
-Affinity
-Splinter Twin
-Boggle?
-Yourself !?!
3 Ancient Grudge
-Affinity
-Pod
The big questionable issue with this sideboard set up is how much Ratchet bomb and Anger of the Gods really screws with your game plan? Both can be great against other decks, but would do some damage to your self unless you played a very rigid play a couple creatures, clear the board, play a couple creatures style. And even that would probably only work game 2.

If this isnt a standard format. I much prefer Sanguine Bond + Exquisite Blood as its so much cooler.

Re: [Modern] Pyrostorm (2 replies, posted in Decks and Deckbuilding)
I think you probably have too many win cons in your main deck. Most people run 2-4 Grapshots and 0-1 Empty the Warrens because drawing into more than 1-2 doesnt really do anything for you.
Think about replacing 4 of your win cons with a play set of reach through mist or desperate ravings
Similarly Im not sure about your sideboard I think it could use some work.
The Polymorph + Emrakul is cute but you dont have consistent enough ways to get the tokens/dryad arbor you need to polymorph. Most importantly if you polymorph a warrens token without having arbor on the field you could end up hitting the arbor and that would not be good. Likewise Gigadrowse is neat but might be better off replaced with something else.
Consider stuff like for your sideboard.
defense grid
torpor orb
tormod's crypt
cyclonic rift
empty the warrens

Re: 5 Color EDH (14 replies, posted in Decks and Deckbuilding)
Yea, I know that, sadly. A good portion of my EDH now has to be proxied since i don't physically have any of it nor enough trade value to get them all. but oh well, i'll live.
Have you seen the Blank foil card proxy thing? Where you strip the art off a foil common then print out the new art on acetate sheeting to put in the sleeve? Its pretty nifty way of doing nice looking proxies.

Protection Doesnt Provide immunity to destruction based effects. It only prevents targetting and damage.
Otherwise pretty similar to above comment.

Shes quite good
Iona, Shield of Emeria
Would be another excellent angel to add though they are both quite expensive.

Re: 5 Color EDH (14 replies, posted in Decks and Deckbuilding)
One of the nice things about Commander is that theres alot of flexibiltiy in what is good and bad. Wierd cards end up being alot better than expected and you can rely on the synergy of a few strange and high mana cost cards to win you a game.

Re: 5 Color EDH (14 replies, posted in Decks and Deckbuilding)
I've fiddled for abit now. I dont think this is ideal but I personally like this alittle more. I focused more on gaining life, making some tokens and then getting a wierd win con.
http://deckbox.org/sets/638911?s=i&o=d
you have more artifacts and ways to get key artifacts. Ways to sac out Child to Wipe the board when you're in a pinch and I got rid of some of the cards that need more mana to do things since you dont ramp very hard. I removed singularity and Heroes podium, its a neat combo but a bunch of your stuff benefits from generating tokens and tokens dont like Singularity. I think it could be a pretty wicked theme for another deck though!
I tried to stick to stuff that was in the $1-2 or less range since it sounds like you have a reasonable budget and these are the sort of pieces that are easy to pick up in the long run.
You can see a few pieces in the sideboard that I thought about but eventually decided to cut when push came to shove (also I put your commander in there so I didnt accidentally cut it!) Obviously it still needs fine tuning but I think its a nice solid start that will synergize alittle better than what you had going on before.

Re: 5 Color EDH (14 replies, posted in Decks and Deckbuilding)
Oh man cant believe I missed Maelstrom not being legendary.... Not sure what I was thinking
Karona, False God IS a cool creature that is half angel though. But Child is probably better
I'll fiddle with the deck a bit and then post it when I have what I would do set up.

Re: 5 Color EDH (14 replies, posted in Decks and Deckbuilding)
You're right of course and I should have used my words more properly but I wanted to confirm before giving any advice.
The deck could work as is but there are certainly places it could be improved. Is there a specific reason you want to run child of alara? Is it just to get the 5 colors of angels in? Because in that case it seems like Maelstrom archangel might fit better as a commander. Alternatively Im not sure why you *need* all five colours Jenara, Asura of War is a nice card that lets you use most of the angels you have.
The one card I dont like:
Leyline of Singularity really only does stuff against Tokens, Shadowborn Apostle and Relentless Rats... so IMO its abit of a wierd choice.
your Mana base:
Alot of your spells cost alot and you're running under Lands abit. I'd look to take out some of the odds and ends from the deck and put in either some more lands or some Manarocks since you have a few ways to make your artifacts indestructible anyway.
I'd also look to diversify your mana base abit. You're scewed towards white creatures but your mana is entirely balanced. Adding in the 10 gates and a Maze's end for example might be a good way to help out. There are certainly dozens of other options if you're inclined to help balance out your mana. (the Lair Lands, other duals and the like)
Sac Outlets:
A couple of sacrifice outlets might be a nice way to do use your Commander to board wipe if the board state gets out of hand. Perhaps Culling Dias Viscera Seer ashnod's altar
Theme:
The angel theme is fine but you also have alot of tools to play with artifacts as is and a commander that wipes the board so what about a few artifact tools and run a boardwipe, artifact sub theme.
With that in mind cards that might be useful to you....
Darksteel Plate
Fabricate
reshape
Diabolic Tutor
Aegis Angel
Restore Balance
Quicksilver Amulet
Summoner's Egg
Clone Shell
Coat of Arms
Decree of Justice
Cryptic Gateway
Angelic Page
Angelic Curator
If you'd like me to be more specific with what I'd personally do with the deck I'd be happy to.

Re: [Modern] Sac the token artifact deck (10 replies, posted in Decks and Deckbuilding)
4 Inkmoth Nexus
4 Blinkmoth Nexus
4 Darksteel Citadel
3-4 Glimmervoid
1 Island
Is the usual sort of array. if you were running without Mox Opals, I would probably make it 4 glimmervoid and also add in a swamp/mountain
If you go the white route instead of Galvanic Blast you could obviously use a plains.

Re: [Modern] Sac the token artifact deck (10 replies, posted in Decks and Deckbuilding)
The majority of Affinity cards are >$1 though so it adds up.
~$120 on the lands alone.
He has the Steel Overseers so most of what he needs is Ravager and etched champion but still.this is true, but the lands are 10 bucks each for the most part, trading for multiple 10 dollar cards is easier than one $50 card... opals are pretty clutch in the list though, i don't think affinity would work without them.
The budget for some players/decks is <$100

as a whole I like elements of the deck but Im not sure it will really do what you need it to. I did a quick search found a bunch of cards...
piston sledge
Throne of Geth
spawning pit
Culling Dias
Jinxed Idol
pentavus
rackdos riteknife
Blasting Station
The first three in particular stood out to me as good options for the deck. Spawning Pit and Piston Sledge both have the advantage of being cheap and not requiring any mana or tapping to activate. This lets you run with just 1 Dross Scorpion on the board and a Myr Turbine for example.
Throne of Geth stood out for the proliferate.
Im not clear on how to make this deck win exactly but I think theres some decent elements here.
Finally I would definitately pick up playsets of Ornithopter memnite these are both super awesome creatures, that work great with this sort of deck AND they get you started into Affinity too which is not a horrible idea really.
another option which I think would be really cool would be to do a variant on Heartless storm. Using 2 Myr Retrievers, Heartless summoning and Something to Protect a disciple of the vault. The Retrievers cycle one another for free chaining damage from the disciple till you win.
In the end I'd look at a list something like this:
Land ~22
Artifacts 16
4 Spawning Pit
2 Throne of Geth
4 Springleaf Drum
2 Myr Turbine
4 Trading Post
Creatures
2 Dross Scorpions
4 Memnite
4 Ornithopter
4 Myr Retriever
4 Disciples of the Vault
Spells
4 Thoughtcast

Re: [Modern] Semi-competive U/B Delver Control (1 replies, posted in Decks and Deckbuilding)
Devour Flesh is 100% better than tribute. So I would look to replace those.
A couple more of Snapcasters wouldnt hurt.
I would look at dropping Forbidden Alchemy for another piece of removal or two. Maybe Tragic Slip?
Finally this may be wierd but Lilly doesnt much help the deck really. You want cards in hand to be able to keep throwing down answers and otherwise shes just an expensive verdict.
I would say you also have a few too many lands. Delver is great but tends to work better as a tempo deck than a full on control. Think about dropping in another light beater like Invisible Stalker or NivMagus Elemental
It looks good to me over all.
Othercards to consider

Re: Dimir Mill deck. Looking for inputs. (7 replies, posted in Decks and Deckbuilding)
Another thing to consider is that in a more casual setting mill actually tends to get worse, because often players feel free to include more than 60 cards in their deck where as in competitive games players feel restricted. More cards means its like fighting an opponent that starts at 25. Not fun.
