Topic: Best way to use TCGPlayer app?

Currently, my workflow is as follows for adding cards to my account:

Organize cards into sets.
Scan each set as a different folder in the TCG Player app.
Email those lists to myself.
Copy the list, and paste it in excel.
Find and replace '[SET]' with nothing so that the set leaves the list.
Copy and paste the new list into deckbox with the correct set selected.
Move on to the next list.

I feel like it should be easier.

TCGplayer scans the cards and adds a set, what if on Deckbox, we could just import those lists directly and it used the [DOM] automatically to add the dominaria set (or whatever set it was...)

Anyone have a better work around?

Re: Best way to use TCGPlayer app?

Depends on the inventory. If it's a smaller inventory and/or one that has lots of cards in each set rather than just a handful from most sets, then your method is probably best.

For large inventories with lots of sets represented, it would be easier to scan them all into TCGP, convert the resulting exported list into a Deckbox-compatible CSV file, then add the cards to DeckBox via the "From CSV file" import.

Without seeing the exported TCGP list, I can't comment on how easy / difficult it'll be to turn into a CSV file. You're welcome to attach one and I'll look at it.

On IOS I’m not sure you can export to an excel file from tcgplayer

Re: Best way to use TCGPlayer app?

What does it export to? Because even if it's a basic TXT file, it can probably be converted.

It would be awesome if you could just paste this in the “import from list” and it take the set.

I agree! It would even be nice to set foiling, language, and condition in the list with flags like *F* (foil), *DE* (German), or *HP* (heavily played), kind of like TappedOut allows.

In the meantime, I whipped together an Excel spreadsheet that lets you paste in your TCGPlayer list and extracts the count, card name, and set code, then converts the set code into a Deckbox-compatible edition name. Then just copy the output into a CSV file (choose to "Paste Values") and import into Deckbox from that CSV file.

Note 1: Importing from a CSV file won't replace whatever's currently in your inventory. Instead, it'll add to whatever is there, perfect for a case like yours where you've already partially imported your collection.

Note 2: Not every edition is currently listed in the Excel spreadsheet I made. So in the "Sets" worksheet, you can add any missing ones. Just type the info on the first blank line, and the dynamically-named range I created will automatically include the new entries in the formulas, so you won't have to edit anything else. (Just make sure you don't have any blank lines in the set list, or it WILL break.)
