Purchase & Trading Opportunities

Should be easier now to find cool deals for the cards in your wishlist, with the newly added Purchase Opportunities page. Check it out and let us know what you think.

In somewhat the same area, we have received requests for the Trading Opportunities to work slightly differently, and to show all traders that are compatible with the filters selected, and not only those who have things to trade with you. We have added this now, and at the end of the listing, you will also see these users.

Similarly, people have been asking for the old "Traders" section on a card's page, and we did not quite put it back, but now there are direct links from the card page to the trading opportunities page filtered by that specific card, so you can see all compatible users that are either giving it away or trading for it. (See an example by clicking here: Jace, Memory Adept and then on the Traders tab).

Security

SSL is enabled now for the whole website, so all your data, chats and emails should be more secure.

Competitive

This weekend took place the Standard GP Moscow. Check out our post in Competitive for results & Top 8 decklists.

There have been some other minor fixes for things reported in Site Feedback, but no point in listing everything here.

Happy trading!

Re: v3.5: Purchase opportunities, Trading op. improvements, Security

Also just added promo Magister of Worth to the database.

Re: v3.5: Purchase opportunities, Trading op. improvements, Security

One obvious issue with the purchase opportunities feature right now is that if someone has insane prices for cards on your wishlist, they'll be at the top of your list. I noticed this because the person who was second of my matchlist was selling 2 cards for $400, and I thought "huh, I don't think I have any $200 cards on my list", and it turns out that it was just 2 massively-overpriced VoR copies.

I'm afraid that this really could ruin the "purchase opportunities" feature, if it just ends up showing a list of the most-overpriced merchants. It could also potentially be abused - just find a card on a lot of wishlists and price it at a million dollars, and then people will see your name first under "trading opportunities". Sure, they won't buy *that* card and might think you're a jerk, but maybe it'll work?

I know it's more work, but I guess this illustrates why TCGPlayer has its trade optimizer as it is.

[Edit]

Also, for the promo MoW... I don't know what the deal is. I have the only copy available right now, but it's overpriced because Deckbox thinks its market price is $10 and I'm too lazy to correct this every time I use the "update all prices" feature. So is it really fixed? Or is this just something weird about Deckbox's price algorithm on certain cards? I noticed that each time I update it the market price drops because I price at 95% and then it sets the 95% as the new market price, but... it'll be a while before it's at the $3 or so it should be, eh?

Re: v3.5: Purchase opportunities, Trading op. improvements, Security

Why does "Interesting Cards for Trade" show cards from other countries?   That's not very helpful to me.

Thanks

Yep, you are right, this is an issue right now. But we will remove anything that is way below market price and way above market price from these calculations. This will solve issues with sellers that try to game the system to get to the top.

It *is* worth 10$.

This is a bug and we are working on fixing it today.

Re: v3.5: Purchase opportunities, Trading op. improvements, Security

That's the foil version of the regular card. The release promo (what I assume we're talking about here) is at $3 or so:

Yep, that one is 3$ on deckbox as well.

We just added the printing when I made the earlier post, so if yours is not tagged as being from the Release Promos edition, then you see the other price.

Re: v3.5: Purchase opportunities, Trading op. improvements, Security

Ah, okay, I never knew various promos had their own sets... I'm guessing that's a new feature (it makes the promo toggle on most cards obsolete?) Issue solved.

Re: v3.5: Purchase opportunities, Trading op. improvements, Security

New updates:

* added an option in Settings to disable the "New Chat Message" email notifications
* added own inventory counts when viewing other people's decks, or event decks (see this one for example)
* small fixes for better handling of weird paypal errors
* community pages now have a 'Last Forum Topics' section
* moved Reddit Mtg Trades community forum as a subforum of Trading Post, for better exposure of those posts (they're a  very very big community... Reddit taking over the world tongue)

* added some options to the Mass Price tool in Seller Tradelists, as some users wanted to be able to bulk price commons

Re: v3.5: Purchase opportunities, Trading op. improvements, Security

New updates:

- Users can now set their account 'Will Trade' setting to 'Not Trading'. This prevents other   users to open trades with you. The difference from this setting to marking yourself as "On Vacation" is that with this you do not get a warning banner on your profile, and you can still sell cards if you have a seller account.

- Fixed error while importing csv files with special characters (UTF-8 encoding issue)
- Fixed bad link in import csv widget in tradelist. (https://deckbox.org/forum/viewtopic.php … 727#p91727)

Re: v3.5: Purchase opportunities, Trading op. improvements, Security

- the following editions are now marked as banned in Legacy and Vintage:  Celebration Cards, Happy Holidays, Unhinged Alternate Foils
