The Archangel approached her cleric consort.  "It has begun." she announced.  "And It is just as we have foreseen it.  Jacob has the ring and he is brining it to us. It would have been nearly impossible to retrieve it from Xanthrid's compound without an all out war.  We should have little trouble taking it from him."

I wouldn't be so sure m'Lady.  The consort replied.  "Our sources tell us the he has bound the ring to himself with a blood contract.  There could be casualties."  "The boy has chosen his path."  The Archangel retorted.  "He is acting as our instrument now.  He will bring us the ring, and we will take it from him."

The two Angels left the office and walked slowly down a long hall.  It was adorned with Artifacts and relics of times long past.  Glimmering plates of armour, shields, swords, vials. and other artifacts which the consort could not identify.  They walked into the center of the hall where an ancient sundial stood on a pedestal in the middle and then further down the hall into an area full of jewellery, amulets, gloves and cloaks.

The Great Hall of antiquities was not unfamiliar to the consort.  Her main purpose was to assist the Archangel in keeping the artifacts ready in case there ever was a need.  It was not unusual for the Archangel to be obsessive about adding a new relic to her collection, after all that was her main purpose.  The Archangel routinely led relic hunting expeditions for all kinds of unusual things, but this ring seemed more important than any of them.  She looked at the Archangel who was deep in thought and she decided to pose the question.

"Why this ring m'Lady?  What is so special about it?"  The Archangel paused, as if unsure whether to answer.  She gestured towards an alcove at the far end of the room.

They walked towards it and an Aegis Guard put out her hand as if to say no entry to the consort.  "It's ok." the Archangel responded.  "It is time she sees for herself."

"Don't mind the Guard,"  she gestured,  the Aegis guards have been protecting our little secret here for almost 1000 years."

The Archangel unlocked the large door with a key from her belt and took the consort inside.  The room was as black as the night, and in the center was a tall glimmering statue.

"Jacob's ring is infused with the souls of many fallen angels.  It is the only artifiact we have ever encountered that can serve as a power source for our most secret possession."

"Why does this metal statue need power?" The consort asked.  "What does it do?" 

"Oh, this is much more than a statue of an Angel my dear"  The archangel began.  "It is an Angel.  An extremely powerful Angel.  But it is an angel without a soul.  It is made of pure platinum, the metal of the gods.  Once infused with Jacob's ring it will be as alive as you or I.  And with it on the battlefield of the Lord. we simply can't lose."
