Notes

This is a completely revamped Flicker ETB (Enter the Battlefield) deck with Roon as the commander. The title of the deck "Flicker me this" is an ode to the old Batman villain the Riddler who always says, "Riddle me this".

I'd love to play against this deck!  What issues are you having with it?
    • Ryan Hallows | 10-Dec-2018 15:25
It's ETB Flicker like mad, but no clear win-con. And maybe that's ok, but I don't have anyone to play test it with enough to see where the strengths and weaknesses are. You know, Montana is beautiful this time of year if you guys want to take a road trip. :) We've been throwing around various ideas of how to get out to NY to visit you guys and timing/work/school has been a barrier. But we've got to do it sooner rather than later!

ASTRAL SLIDE!!!!!  also take a look at my Cycle deck (http://deckbox.org/sets/586203)  I've been playing it with little modifications for 3 years and it's still as fun as ever.

may want to think about cards like howling mine, temple bell for draw
    • Ryan Hallows | 15-Jan-2013 20:00
Thanks for the suggestion. I will consider that.

If you play multi-edh then they are great cards for the political side of things and people will like you for helping them out.

I'd add some creature tutors - birthing pod (specially because it cycles creatures for ETB effects), green sun's zenith.  I'd add a few big guys as curve toppers - you know the type, like hydra omnivore, woodfall primus, terastodon, stormtide leviathan.  And some graveyard recursion - regrowth, noxious revival, eternal witness - more powerful than memory's journey.  I'd add a few board sweepers - day of judgment and its many clones.  And I'd add more spot removal - oblation, condemn, beast within, etc.  I'd add some draw, like you said you don't want to run out of gas too early, blue sun's zenith, skullclamp, fact or fiction.

More creatures with double purpose, like Qasali Pridemage for artifact/enchantment removal; Edric, Spymaster of Tryst, Elvish Visionary, Mulldrifter, Consecrated Sphinx, and Sphinx of Uthuun for draw; acidic slime, void stalker, phyrexian ingester for removal; the many many green ramp creatures like Krosan Tusker; brutalizer exarch for tutor/removal.  Deadeye Navigator blinks all the ETB creatures.

The best creature buffs are really pricey equipment & creatures, like the Swords of X & Y with Stonehewer Giant or Stoneforge Mystic or Steelshaper's Gift.  So I'd consider some powerful creature enchantments.  You've got a few, but I think Steel of the Godhead, Shield of the Oversoul, Eldrazi Conscription - that type of thing.  They couple nicely with Sovereigns of Lost Alara.

I'd use fewer instant/sorcery pump spells and one-offs generally, they're just not very powerful in long EDH games because they don't typically permanently impact the board. Kiss of the Amesha is a divination that costs double, and there's better stuff - even counsel of sortami. Heroes' Reunion is useless - 7 life in commander is meaningless, but those charms that double as removal, draw, and something else - those are solid.

Ditto for many of the enchantments that don't keep the aggressiveness or tempo - martial law, angelic benediction, ardent plea, exoskeletal armor, crystallization, angelic shield, wreath of geists, etc.  I'd huck them and add more creatures or better auras.

Thanks for the feedback. I decided to up the ETB Flicker stuff and the enchantments and I will slowly get rid of the one-time instants and sorcery stuff and some of the less-usefull exalted creatures with rediculous casting costs ie. waveskimmer aven. I was thinking that Deadeye Navigator paired with Peregrine Drake could be a really nasty combo.
      • Sean | 15-Jan-2013 17:50
Yep, those creatures from the urza block, like palinchron, great whale, and the drake are combolicious.  You'd have to find a way to use the infinie mana, but that shouldn't be too hard.  Dump your hand or blue sun's zenith your opponent for 1000?
  • Sean | 05-Jul-2012 14:39
Not sure if it is necessary, but have you seen Silent Arbiter?  It is an artifact, so no mana screw, and fits the theme pretty well.
    • Ryan Hallows | 14-Jan-2013 20:53
take a look when you get a chance and let me know what you think. I think I need to figure how to get more draw, since the casting cost is low and I can foresee emptying my hand out pretty early.
