Tournament Report for SCG Regionals Orlando
5th-8th place with Jund
List: https://www.mtggoldfish.com/deck/565660#paper

I have never played Jund before the event; usually I play snapcaster based Modern decks. I spent about a week configuring my 75 for an unknown meta. There was so many choices for the sideboard but eventually I landed on what I played. The biggest change was dropping a filter and the utility land spots for two Blooming Marshes; they were awesome the entire day. Fatal Push was also very good and I wish I could find room for more.

Tournament Report:
Round 1 vs Tron, win 2-0
My opponent mulled to five and I to six. I led off with a thoughtseize and took a Karn; he was left with a Kozilek's Return and lands. I play a turn three Liliana, the Last Hope and minus with zero creatures in the grave. I binned a Kalitas and put him in the hand. No opponent draws natural Tron. I then played Kalitas and rode him to victory; I had to kill three Wormcoils.

Sideboard:
+ 3 Fulminator Mage, + 1 Dreadbore, +1 Chandra, Torch of Defiance, +2 Surgical Extraction
-1 Kalitas, Traitor of Ghet, -2 Fatal Push, -1 Liliana, the Last Hope, -3 Inquisition of Kozilek

Game 2 we both keep our seven. I lead off with a turn one thoughtseize and snagged a Wormcoil; I then cast a surgical on it. My opponent played a bunch of eggs and never drew Tron. I had a turn four Chandra. She does about 12 points of damage before he oblivion stones. Raging Ravine finishes him off. He still never saw Tron.

Round 2 vs Esper Mid, win 2-1
Game 1 was both of use playing dudes and killing everything. I eventually stick a Kalitas and run away with the game. I saw geist, tasigur, souls and snaps. He had few counterspells. I would assume 4 pushes plus 4 paths.

Sideboard:
+ 1 Dreadbore, +2 Surgical Extraction, +1 Damnation, +1 Thrun, the Last Troll
- Kalitas, Traitor of Ghet, -2 Abrupt Decay, -1 Liliana of the Veil

Game Two played out a lot like Game 1. We each killed everything. I used the ultimate a Liliana of the Veil and gave him the option of five lands or four lingering souls and a land; he took the 5 lands. I got him to two life but could not close it out.

Game 3: I land a turn four huntmaster and force a supreme verdict. I then follow up with Thrun. We then go back and forth but he could not touch the Thrun. I get him to three and try to bolt him; he casts a logicknot and verbally counts to 6 lands; I had forest off to the side that he missed. He says x is “7”. I gladly pay for it and proceeded to kill him. When he said, I had “6 lands”, I quickly glanced at the forest but tried to not pull any attention to it or make it obvious I was looking at it.

Round 3 vs Bant Eldrazi, win 2-0
I’m on the play and I turn one thoughtseize; I take engineered explosives because I had double goyfs in hand. He plays a Noble Hierarch. I bolt it on my turn and play another thoughtseize; this time taking a thoughtknot. He plays displacer. I follow up with a goyf and push. He plays nothing and I play another goyf and terminated a creature on his end step.

Sideboard:
+ 3 Fulminator Mage, +1 Damnation, +1 Dreadbore
-3 Inquisition of Kozilek, -1 Liliana, the Last Hope, -1 Kolaghan's Command

Game Two I do Jund things: turn one thoughtseize, into a Bob, into Lilly, into Huntmaster, then a bunch of removal.

Round 4 vs Burn, win 2-0
Game One I’m on the play; I play a Blackcleave Cliffs with a bolt and push in hand. He plays guide and gets me a land. I then push the guide. I play Blooming Marsh and a IoK and take a boros charm. He suspends a bolt and plays a swift spear, I bolt it EoT. Next I play a Liliana of the Veil and he discards a land. He shoots Lilly with the rift bolt and bolts her again to finish her off. I then play a huntmaster and quickly win from there.

Sideboard:
+2 Collected Brutality, +2 Kitchen Finks
-4 Dark Confidants
Game Two was the same as Game one. I did blow him out with a sweet Collected Brutality: it killed a Goblin Guide, snagged a Boros Charm and gained me two life. Between both games I was done in under 10 minutes. I was able get a quick lunch.

Round 5 vs Jeskai Flash, win 2-0
Game one Jund’d him out pretty hard. His deck was weird he had a turn two pyromancer and he miracle casted an Entreat the Angels to stabilize. So, I was not a hundred percent what He was playing. He had the basic Jeskai cards like bolt, snap and lightning helix too. I figured he was on a weird Nahiri/ tokens build.

Sideboard:
+ 1 Dreadbore, +2 Surgical Extraction, +1 Kitchen Finks, +1 Thrun, the Last Troll, +1 Chandra, Torch of Defiance
-2 Abrupt Decay, -2 Scavenging Ooze, -1 Kalitas, Traitor of Ghet, -1 Liliana of the Veil

Game two I have turn on thoughtseize: he had lands, a snap and a Nahiri. I grab the Nahiri and surgical it. I then searched through his deck, and I was completely wrong. He was on flash, with geist and angels. He also only had one Nahiri. He drew a bunch of lands after that and I beat him down with creatures.

Round 6 vs Amulet Titan, Loss 0-2
Game 1 I fetch the wrong land and got punished for it. He had an amulet for turn one, then a turn two Azusa with a turn three titan.

Sideboard:
+ 3 Fulminator Mage, +2 Surgical Extraction, +1 Damnation, +1 Dreadbore
-1 Liliana of the Veil, -1 Liliana, the Last Hope, -2 Inquisition of Kozilek, -2 Fatal Push, -1 Scavenging Ooze

Game two he has an opening leyline. I am stuck with a IoK. He plays Azusa turn three and I bolt it. He plays the first Titan and I cast Damnation, killing it with a Sakura-Tribe Scout. He plays another Titan and I terminate it. Eventually he gets a Sigarda, Heron's Grace and it goes unanswered. His deck was a rough matchup; he too was the number one seed going into top8.

Round 7 vs Knightfall/Bant Coco, Win 2-1
Game one he was cut off from white mana and had nothing going on.
Sideboard:
+1 Damnation, +1 Dreadbore, +2 Collective Brutality, +2 Kitchen Finks
-1 Liliana, the Last Hope, -3 Liliana of the Veil, -2 Kolaghan's Command
Game two he had an aggressive start and I was not able to catch up.
Game three was very grindy I won off back to back huntmasters. I was not sure if he had the combo in the deck or was playing Knights for value.

Round 8 vs Mono White Death and Taxes, Win 2-1
It was a win and in for both of us. Game one he locked me out and I was not able to play spells.
Sideboard:
+1 Damnation, +1 Dreadbore, +2 Collective Brutality, +2 Kitchen Finks
-3 Liliana of the Veil, -3 Thoughtseizes
Game Two: I kept a one lander with three one mana removal spells, two Bobs, and IoK. Turn one I took his vial with a IoK. I then drew into more lands and killed everything he played and Bobs went to town.
Game Three was a grind but eventually I was able to get on the board and leverage my threats.

I was in sixth place going into Top 8. My buddy that I drove up with was in third. The good news was that one of us would top 4 the event at least.

Top 8 match vs Affinity (on the draw) Loss 0-2
Game One I had a bunch of removal but it didn’t matter to the 6 things he played on turn one including a ravager.
Sideboard:
+2 Ancient Grudge, +1 Damnation, 3 Fulminator Mage
-3 Liliana of the Veil, -3 Thoughtseize

Game Two: I had a hand stock with removal. I killed everything relevant until he played a champion on turn three and followed up with a Bloodmoon. My buddy was worried about the matchup and I should have been favored but sometimes it does not matter. Still a great weekend.
