Notes

As an avid Pauper player who tends to play against friends who use decks crafted for every format from Standard to Modern to Legacy, I had two choices. One--I could stop playing Pauper and finally use some dirty, dirty rares. Or two--I could put my thinking cap on and try to come up with a deck that, using only commons, could withstand the onslaught of their decks.

Obviously I chose the latter option and from that idea sprang up this deck. The deck is based on one simple premise actually: usually people try to kill you with creatures--don't let them. Boardwipe in Pauper is fairly lackluster so it was either use Pestilence or Martyr of Ashes (another favorite of mine).

After playing with this deck numerous times I have come to the conclusion that my initial goal has been achieved--and then some. If success is measured not only in wins versus losses, but in the groans received from my friends when I pull the deck out, then I have won many times over as well.
