Haunt works by allowing a permanent's "enters the battlefield"-ability or spell effect to go off twice. It allows a card to be exiled from a graveyard "haunting" a creature, and when that creature dies, a triggered ability of the haunting card is put on the stack and allows a second usage of the card.
