My guess is, if your commander is Sens Tripets you'll rarely get to have her on the field during the game.  Removal/Theft will be saved for her.  Thankfully with your artifact/mirfolk theme you can run your deck without her, and maybe use her as a finisher.  Maybe look to add nice hexproof equipment to protect her like swiftfoot boots, whispersilk cloak, or Lightning Greaves.  Another thing to add more of is always card draw: Phyrexian Arena, Ponder, and so on.  I would also like to see you run a bit more in the way of deck manipulation: Nim Dul's Vault, diabolic tutor, demonic tutor (if you have money), and so on.

I do love Whisersilk cloak. So make Thada commander and use Sen
Triplets as a finisher? Sharum would make a good commander but that just
      seemed too common a choice.

And thanks for all the suggestions, I'll try and work them in. Do you see anything obvious I can drop for some of the draw/removal you suggested?
      • Aaron Asselstine | 04-Dec-2012 03:42
You have to keep Sen's Triplits...she has all three of your colors.  You owuld have to go mono blue if you went with Thada.  As for cutting cards, it all depends on how you like to play.  If you want some of the top end cards then you could easily cut a few of your artifact mana cards for better stuff like Gilded Lotus, and so on.  But you seem more like the kind of guy who likes to go unconventional.  Plus going high end costs more money.  You know who would be a great fit, the Grand Architect.  Not a mirfolk, but uses your artifact ability to a tee and he's not costly.  Cut Argent Mutation and replace it with Liquimetal Coating...does the same thing but sticks around AND it combos nicely with Master Transmuter.  Protomatter powder and Cumber Stone could go...you already have ways to return artifacts.  Maybe add Buried Ruin and Expedition Map.  The Map can help you find Academy Ruins which is crucial, and Buried Ruin is a land that you can sac to return an artifact.  Cut one of your lands for the Buried Ruin.  Even with a hundred cards its so tough to cut....

Oh! hah, of course I have to keep Sen. Ah, the intracacies of EDH. XD It's almost harder to cut with a hundred, or at least it's harder to cut in singleton.

Whose your commander?  Sens Triplit right?  Sens is super powerful!  I think in general you might want to add more removal/board sweep (day of judgement, etc), as well as more ways to make your oponents have islands to take advantage of the island walk

    • snowdrifts | 04-Dec-2012 03:20
Sen Triplets, because of the power level. Thada was there for artifact-flavour-ful-ness. Now that you mention it, though, I might promote Thada to commander, just because it works with the theme.

The merfolk do a pretty good job of giving themselves islandwalk, but a few more flood counters flying around never hurt. What other removal would you suggest?
      • Aaron Asselstine | 04-Dec-2012 03:26
Mass removal if your playing multiplayer: Day of Judgement, Decree of Pain, Black Sun's Zenith, Damnation (again for those with money:p).  For heads up stuff like Doom Blade, Murder, and of course the all time greats like Swords to Plowshares, Path to Exile, and so on.
        • Aaron Asselstine | 04-Dec-2012 03:31
Spreading seas is a decent card, could force the island walk issue.  I just picked one up for my Rogue deck which has a little bit of island walk...plus its card draw!
          • snowdrifts | 04-Dec-2012 03:36
That's a perfect card for this! Thanks! :D
  • Aaron Asselstine | 04-Dec-2012 03:07
eww, fun, commander is the shit.  I love it.  Easily the best format in my opinion.

    • snowdrifts | 04-Dec-2012 03:10
Just building this was an interesting experience. "W-wait I can't have 4 of something? WHAT THE HELL!" But then it gets more interesting when it just balloons out into having every card you like, but really makes no sense in a regular deck. Things get so much more useful, here.
      • Aaron Asselstine | 04-Dec-2012 03:32
That's why I like the format.  It allows for all your favorite cards and increases the value of bad cards in other formats because with a hundred card singleton you have more time and can justify over costed cards.
        • snowdrifts | 04-Dec-2012 03:36
Plus, the fact that I mostly collect cards make Commander decks easier for me to build. I have a lot of one-ofs lying around.
          • Aaron Asselstine | 04-Dec-2012 03:45
Do you have lots of this stuff?  Is your deckbox list up to date at all?  I have a few of the cards above, but not that many.  I have Tezzeret, Master Pearl Trident, Whispersilk cloak, go for the throat and so on.
            • snowdrifts | 04-Dec-2012 04:04
Unfortunately I have very little of this, my inventory's all up to date. But having never played a game of EDH, I'm not overly worried about putting this deck together right now.
