Jalira Combo Control

Gameplan: Control the board until you can safely cast Jalira, protect her, and combo off.

Combo: The classic Peregrine Drake, Archaeomancer, Ghostly Flicker combo for infinite mana. The payoff is to Capsize all of your opponents permanents (including lands) - usually that is enough for them to scoop as this combo can be performed at instant speed. Whispers of the muse can also get you to Capsize once you have infinite mana. You can also draw out your deck with Into the Roil/Blink of an Eye and Archaeomancer once you have infinite mana. You can then find Stream of Thought to mill everyone out to seal the deal.

Jalira helps you achieve this combo by sacrificing one of the many incidental tokens your spells make to Polymorph into Peregrine Drake or an Archaeomancer. Because you only run these creatures in your deck you are always going to hit the combo.

Tutors: You don’t have (or need) a lot of tutors. You really only need to find a Ghostly Flicker/Displace and a Capsize. Dizzy Spell can find High Tide, Whispers of the Muse, and Stream of Thought. Merchant Scroll can find all of these (but not Stream directly), which can be found by Muddle the Mixture. Step Through can get Archaeomancer. You can chain the right tutors together to get what you need.

Other Tips: Knowing when to go off is key, you’ll need to protect Jalira for a turn cycle before you can activate her. You’ll also need to have all of your combo pieces in hand ready to go. An Archaeomancer in play and Ghostly Flicker/Displace in hand can provide repeatable protection.

Ghostly Flicker can also target Mystic Sanctuary. Note this puts the spell on top of your library and not into your hand so you’ll need a way to draw it. But if you’re getting milled out this can potentially prevent that.

Bouncing a Mystic Sanctuary with Deprive can be a soft lock in the right circumstances. Ie. you’re ahead, it’s 1v1 and your opponent is unable to double spell something relevant.

You have some mana rocks that can turn into creatures to be sacked to Jalira. Also don’t be afraid to target your stuff with your token making spells when you need to.
